Can this be sanded and stained to make a table? I don't want to dowel and join multiple pieces of wood, because I want it to have a one-piece look on the tabletop.
Asked by: rjc0315
The layers are thin, so be careful over sanding.

Is this product pressure treated against heavy rain ?
Asked by: TD
pressure treating wood does not protect from water damage at all. you must apply your chosen form of water treatment and apply it. I would not recommend using pressure treated wood on your table as the chemicals used are highly toxic. Try cedar, redwood, white oak.

Can this be cut in the store?

Asked by: Nate
Depends on the store. Both HD's near mean have a nice saw which can make H & V cut's a 4 by 8 foot sheet. Things to be aware of: - The may not be working - The saw may not cut square - The saw operator may mis-measure - The blade eats up about 1/8th inch of width - Planning the cuts and making a drawing can avoid a lot trouble

Has a very thick veneer, probably 10x thicker than the garbage from china. You won't sand thru this veneer. Has a few blemishes, nothing that can't be puttied and sanded. When Home Depot first started carrying this product I would give it a solid 5 star rating; however, in the past year the quality has fallen somewhat with a few blimishes and a few "footballs" in some sheets. Overall a great product.

It's hard to rate plywood these days, since the overall quality of wood products is not good in my opinion. This plywood looks good and has a nice smooth side as denoted in its classification code. It uses exterior glue/resin to hold together. It cuts and is easy enough to work with, but it tends to bow and disfigure more easily than other 3/4 inch plywood I've used. It is fairly soft and porous. I used it to build access doors for crawlspaces, but painted it with three coats of exterior paint. Because of its tendency to warp, a frame of 2 x 2 was used to keep the doors straight. I rate this average in today's quality, but I will search for a better product next time I build crawlspace access doors. Pressure treated plywood sounds like a better choice, but it is worse to warp than this plywood. That's the main reason I tried this product over the PT plywood. I would recommend this with reservations and suggestions to paint it well and to support it carefully in whatever use you have for it.

Ply's did not splinter as much as other more expensive brands did nor did it crack when when using pocket screws. This plywood has a uniform appearance and took a polyurethane finish evenly without any disappointments. I am currently using this material to construct a workstation in my home workshop. Although this would not be considered furniture grade plywood, it was great for constructing heavy duty cabinets and shelving for use in my shop.

The outer layers on both sides are 1/8 thick which results in very little splintering at cuts and edges. It is lighter than hardwood and cost less. Finish is very good on both sides and required almost no finishing sanding.

It is stable, flat and cuts easily. However it is easily nicked and some of the veneer was bubbled upon arrival home. I would probably spend a few more dollars and get something with a thicker better glued veneer.

It has 11+ separate ply layers and it cuts clean and holds up really well for shelving and cabinetry. I paied $38/sheet for is (used to be $30, but still good at $38). Compared to equivalents, this is cheaper and better built.

I was able to stack 20 sheets of 3/4” maple plywood on it. And it looks great. The core was good I didnt have any voides in any of the ply layers. I would recommend.
