Questions & Answers

Can you add casters to it?

Asked by PlantsHeal May 14, 2018

Hello PlantsHeal, Yes you can though you will need to purchase the castors separately. When considering casters remember to take into account the additional weight that wet soil will add to the structure. Also I would only consider adding castors if the planter bed is going to be on a hard surface. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris

Does it have drainage holes?

Asked by Kbel June 9, 2017

No, it does not have drainage holes.

How can I find this in a store

Asked by Mel May 8, 2016

I had to buy mine on-line as they don't stock it in the store here. I bought one and then a few weeks tried to order another, but it was out of stock on-line. Home Depot does a good job of notifying you via email when the item is back in stock so that you can order right away.

how deep is the growing area?

Asked by newtothis April 14, 2015

About six inches

Is the wood weather treated already? Do all of the supplies come in the kit besides hammer and/or drills/

Asked by Vicki September 26, 2014

It is redwood, so it may not need to be treated. However, I used Thompson's Water Seal on mine just to be sure. It could also be easily painted. Everything you need to assemble is in the box.

Great Starter Bed!
I really like this bed...for the look more than the construction. Mine was not so easy to assemble. I didnt understand trying to fit squared/rectangular legs into its round/oblong opening??? I had to sand the corners of the legs to get it to fit. Annndd I had to predrill holes to avoid having the wood split. Anyway...I managed. I painted it, added a little fabric and now I am ready to plant. Can't wait to see how that goes. Overall, I really like the bed!

Great product for price range.
Easy to assemble and sturdier than it looks. Perfect size for a city garden.

nice garden
I bought this for my veggie garden. I love that it is elevated, however, I'm still waiting to see how my veggies do in it- not sure there's enough soil for the veggies I planted. But if the veggies don't work this year, I'll try something different next year. And you have to assemble the legs in the proper grooves or it will be too wide for the planks. two grooves are deeper than the other two.

Best off the ground raised garden bed I've seen
I bought this for my mom who shouldn't bend over to garden anymore. I was very pleased at the quality of the wood and the fact that the sides were pre assembled. Very glad the holds we're pre drilled, didn't expect a liner for the bottom, but there was one. The instructions were simple and fortunately I thought through the process befor installing the screws, which were also included. My granddaughter helped me put it together and we had it filled and planted in under an hour. We did go back and cut slits in the plastic to I prove the drainage. Hope I can find this item again next year so I can get one for myself.

I didn't have assembly problems like some others (although a power tool is definitely a requirement!). Product itself is junk. Poor quality, pieces are chincy, even when assembled it is rickety, and it creeks under even a little bit of weight (soil isn't light). Even the screws snapped. Fortunately I had extra's, since I had to add my own in addition to those it came with. They've already started to fall apart, once they completely do (I give it 2 weeks), I'll go back to small container gardening. And shop elsewhere for supplies. What a waste.

perfect garden for herbs and vegetables
I was hesitant after reading some of the reviews on this garden bed...but bought two anyway....so glad I did...they are exactly what I was looking for....my son and I put them together in 20 minutes...directions on the box are great..just follow them and have an electric screw driver handy....a tip..don't tighten all the screws until you lay the boards in...after the boards are in you can tighten them....excellent value....have submitted pictures

I Have Six Just a little work needed....
They did not nudge out the edges on two of the pieces, that go around the legs. Just cut out 1/4 - 1/2 inch on the edges of the two pieces that go around the leg and it will work perfect.

Awesome Garden Bed!
This product is great! When I first purchased it I was a little concerned about the reviews. After putting it together I was frustrated because it didn't fit right. After stepping away from it and returning I took another look. I realized that 2 of the bindings were put on. I redid the posts, putting them all together the same way, and everything fit perfectly! I would like to say that maybe the people who didn't recommend this might have had the same problem I did at first. But I definitely recommend this product, it is inexpensive and works great (especially if you have dogs) :)

Worth the price
Yes, the wood is rough, but for the price compared to other brands, this is a good place to start. A couple of recommendations: An electric screwdriver is a must and you might want to pre-drill the holes. Also, you may want to notch the slots on the legs square so that the sides fit better. None if this is required, but I think you will be much happier with the result if you take a little time to complete the assembly. Mine went together fairly easily. I glued all the joints and pieces as well as used the supplied screws. Also, I sealed all the wood with Thompson's water seal. When I got it ready for planting, I added a couple of drainage slots in the plastic liner. I am pretty sure I will be purchasing another one!

Avoid. Mismatched pieces, carp routing, terrible fit. Bottom dropped out when I moved it. Great wood for the fireplace, albeit expensive.
