Q:What tape can I use on wallpaper? on wall tile?
      by|Jan 31, 2017

      Answer This Question

A:  Unfortunately we do not have a recommendation for wallpaper as any tape or adhesive will pull it from the wall if there is an area with glue behind it that isn't as strong as the tape. For tile this tape would be an ideal solution keeping in mind the grout lines which may allow paint to seep under. Thanks for asking and for more information check out www.scotchblue.com.

Q:Is it better to take tape off immediately or several hours or a day of touch up painting?

A:  Several hours. If you pull it off too soon, the paint that is on the tape is still moist and can accidentally hit your wall surface.

A:  If you are done you can remove the tape immediately. Sometimes leaving it on the surface while the paint dries will cause you to have to score the paint line for precise lines during removal. Thanks for asking!

A:  Depends on how long the paint takes to dry but I take it off a half hour to hour before, after the paint sets but doesnt dry

              Paint bled right through
Really terrible experience with this product, I wish I could return it. Tape-doff baseboards, walls, and ceilings when we painted our living room this weekend. It went on easy and came off even easier. Unfortunately, the paint went under the tape in multiple places, and now I don't have nice edge lines. My room is full of gobs of paint that penetrated the edge of the tape, I could have done better cutting in the edges myself with a brush! Don't waste your time and go with their green competitor.

I use this tape the most
This is the tape that I use for general purpose taping. For high grip or delicate surface needs, I'll grab something else. But this is what I use constantly, and not just for painting. It's great.

                    Terrible product!Excellent at removing paint
By trying to save a little bit of money. I purchased his tape to paint my trim myself after hiring a professional to do the walls in my house. They were painted and possibly 30 days before I ever applied the tape to make sure that the paint had cured well enough. After approximately 3 days of painting my trim that I'd use the tape to achieve fine lines on I began removing it only to find that it was pulling the paint back off the walls that I just paid someone to do. I'm highly disappointed it would not recommend this for anyone.

                      Multiple uses for this tape
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love using itwhen I paint, but also use it to temporarily stick notes on walls and doors. It removes with no residue or damage to the paint on the wall. Use in both and home and at work. Works really great.

                          Great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tape is amazing. I had to paint my bathroom and I used it to keep from getting paint on my trim. It worked wonderfully. I put it down the side of the trim and not one bit of paint got all my trim. After everything was dry, it pulled right off with no problem.

                            Love this painters tape!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ScotchBlue Original painters tape works great at taping of things I don't want painted. It leaves a nice line after using and I don't have to worry about it leaving residue or sticking to the surface.

                              Many use Tape!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Scotchblue original painter’s tape is the tape everyone should have a roll of in there home. Whether you have to do a minor touch up and want to protect your baseboard trim. Or my favorite use of this tape, when you have a board game and the box won’t stay closed and all the pieces will fall out if it opens up. You don’t want to use tape that will make the box get sticky and gross, trust me, use painters tape!! It always leaves a smooth surface when removed. Please note that I received this product for free to review and give my honest opinion.

                                Wonderful seal
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 3M blue painters tape has been great at protecting the edges of the furniture that we have been painting. It is kept in position and not ruined any paint or when it is attached to. He also used it to tape up fabric shields to prevent our paint sprayer from spraying around the garage. The painting has enough stickiness to stick but not too much to ruin what it is stuck to. It was easy to rip in sections without using scissors. I Projects has taken a long time so I do not have pictures of removing the tape from the project piece. I can update later but the paint is sealed wonderfully before we have started painting so I know that there will not be paint underneath the tape.
