I have used it to close electrical box openings and it was approved by an inspector. It is not intended as a waterproofing material so I may be misunderstanding your question. It is generally intended to close openings between studs, joists, joist bays, stud bays, etc., i.e., where wires or pipes go through the studs/joists, to prevent fires from spreading.

I was actually looking for a foam to fill in small gaps here and there around the perimeter of my home. Primarily to seal off areas and keep any water, insects from entering and help keep my heat in during winter and my AC costs down. This product was recommended by an associate, but didn’t realize it’s FIRE BLOCK FOAM, until I starting to apply. The product is difficult to keep at a consistent flow and to apply evenly. The foam expands rapidly 4 to 5 times it’s application size and remains soft enough to correct any issue prior to its final hardening like cement. Plus it’s color is bright Orange (Fire) and doesn’t blend in well with most exterior house colors
