Why not use this on al joints to glue the tape to the drywall then mud over the glued down tape

Being a spray you will need to wipe out the excess in order for the drywall to look smooth and clean.

Can this product be used on paper backed metal corner bead?

I recently tried this with somewhat poor results. Cracks may develop along the border of the paper and mud compound, no matter how well the material is adhered to the drywall. If this is used for paper-faced corner bead, I recommend applying it very heavily to ensure complete adhesion.

will this bond vinyl corner bead well to joint compound and setting compound?

Asked by Landon February 8, 2018

Yes, as long as the joint compound/setting compound surface is dry. Think contact adhesive - it will bond anything (including corner bead of course) to any solid surface.

Can you explain why this is not recommended for inside corners (paper backed metal inside corner bead)?

This is just a guess, but the tack is immediate when you press the sprayed surfaces together. It might be hard to position the inside corner bead exactly the way you want it if it sticks to the wall immediately. Other than that, I don't know why it wouldn't at least hold the bead in place long enough for you to set it in mud or setting compound.

can i use this product to lay vinyl or linoleum flooring

No, the tack is immediate when sprayed but it's not particularly strong. Your flooring would peel up in a day or two.

Can this adhesive spray be used on metal corner bead

No, this product is intended for plastic corners when using our drywall corner bead adhesive. Thanks for asking!

Some of spray landed on the laminate flooring. It is tacky. Will kept dry or can we it seems so...

The can says there is a solvent to clean the sprayer tip when it gets clogged. This cleaner should work on a floor as well if safe for the floor. I needed to clean the sprayer tip and use rubbing alcohol which work just fine. I got the adhesive on my hands and use Goo Gone which worked in removing it from the hands.

They are building at my work and using this spray. I am 7 months pregnant, is this safe to be around?

3M makes many great products; tapes and adhesives among them. I had a situation where needed to place a plastic bead around the edge of a dry wall opening where traditional corner bead would not work. I bought a wrap-around plastic bead that made a finished edge on the cut drywall. This adhesive is just for this type of operation. It makes a sticky surface without soaking in or coming off the powdery edge of the drywall. They stained it with a pinky-reddish color so that you can see where you have sprayed it. I sprayed the drywall edges and the bead both, then put them together. The adhesive has a strong smell so use in a ventilated area. The adhesive gives you time to make all adjustments to the bead, and has a relatively short drying time. Although I have other 3M adhesives, this one worked differently than those. I would suggest using this for this purpose and I may try it for when I have to apply glue to other powdery surfaces as well. Jeff

Works great, saves time, just spray ,let it tack up, and stick on the corner bead and done. A lot faster for the average DIYer than having to spread mud first. I've used it on several drywall jobs and I've never had any problems with it not holding.

I had a small awkwardly shaped linen closet to finish. The spray held the tape in place while applying the joint compound. It would have been difficult 2 use the previous method of joint compound only and the tape. I would advise caution however in applying the adhesive to both the wall and the tape. Doing this provides immediate adhesion and allows very little leeway if the tape needs to be adjusted in any way. Especially on inside corners. I will use it again being aware of the application to both surfaces. And I never give a 5 rating as the longevity of a product is always in question.

Using this on corner bead is so much easier than trying attach with screws. Just spray it on the inside of the corner bead, let it set up for about 45 seconds, and press into place
