Q:Have they recently changed this product? The new rolls I bought are sticky on both sides instead of cloth on one side, and only stick to themselves. So I can't actually use it as friction tape on things I don't want to slide like I used to.

Just a diy’er, so when I saw this I was thinking it would be a good alternative in some situations that don’t necessarily need insulating, but still need protecting. I have used it for some automotive wiring and so far I like that there isn’t a bunch of sticky adhesive. Try it.

The Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (3M) tape caused a little friction for our family, although friction is what we were looking for to keep the rubber handle of my long handled shoe horn from falling off of the metal shaft. Perfect product for our needs!
