Q:I caulked under my window (brand new package) and it seemed to take off paint from the drywall (near the crack). Did I use the wrong tape? Also, this tape has a strong smell. Is that normal? I am now storing it in a plastic bag for that reason.

Very disappointed!!
I bought this recently and it stained the carpet and ripped the paint off the trim in patches!!

Absolute TRASH
I bought this to tape off trim on multiple furniture pieces i needed to paint. I taped, primed, then painted two coats on each piece. When I began removing the tape, I noticed a harsh line as well as wood stain coming off on the tape. I left it on less than 48 hours TOTAL, which doesn’t seem like an unrealistic period of time. I’m beyond unimpressed and wholly dissatisfied with this product… after putting 60+ hours into sanding and prepping and staining and painting this is unacceptable. If I was able to leave ZERO stars, I would! Never again!!!!!

Never buying again
I recently painted over a wall that was very brightly colored. It took 3 coats of primer to cover it, then I followed with two coats of paint. I allowed proper drying time on all coats, and allowed it to cure at low humidity for a few days before moving on to the next wall. I taped up the cured wall to paint the next one, and when I removed the tape it pulled off the coats of paint and the primer to reveal the original color! This has put me behind in my project, and has created significantly more work for me. Next time I will buy something better quality.

Great for clean paint edges
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this product for free by 3M to review.
I needed to do some drywall touchup, then paint over it. I put up some of this tape then did a couple layers of mortar, then a couple layers of paint. I had a great piece of mind knowing this tape would keep the other surface clean. After everything was dried this came off pretty easily. Overall it made the job much easier and quicker.

Worst!
Supposed to not stick that's why it's painters tape next time I will buy the much cheaper masking tape I will never recommend or use this tape again

3M ScotchBlue Original Painter's Tape... NOT GOOD!
Had this giving to me to use at work on a painting project, Let me say I wound NEVER BUY nor recommend this product as it rips apart in splinter like fashion making tape removel a total nightmare! This is a product I would expect to find in some discount store let alone have what I thought was a good company in 3M!? Totally disappointed in how your product did not meet my expectations.

I would have been better off not taping at all
This stuff was garbage, a complete and utter waste of my money. Everywhere I used it the paint bled through. I’ve got paint on my baseboards, on my tile, I’ve got paint in my GROUT. I’m furious at the poor quality of this junk and that it ruined the last stage of my renovation. Stick to Frog Tape because 3M can’t make a decent tape anymore.

Very disappointed
Quite literally the worst tape I’ve ever used. Painted the trim and taped up our floors, tape ripped the paint right off when removing it from the floor. Very disappointed

Paint bled right through
Really terrible experience with this product, I wish I could return it. Tape-doff baseboards, walls, and ceilings when we painted our living room this weekend. It went on easy and came off even easier. Unfortunately, the paint went under the tape in multiple places, and now I don't have nice edge lines. My room is full of gobs of paint that penetrated the edge of the tape, I could have done better cutting in the edges myself with a brush! Don't waste your time and go with their green competitor.
