If each door measures 21" for a total of 42", why won't this fit a 38" opening?

AnswersRail L=80". 80"-42"(door width)=38". Stops at each end take roughly 1"each. Therefore 80"-((42"+(1"X2))=36".

The doors are beautiful and look good stained. I replaced the handles with double sided handles to accommodate entry to my master bathroom. I was missing one of the bolts that hold the roller on the door. I contacted Home Fashion Technology and Cassie was very helpful and I had a replacement by Fed Ex 2 day. That was fantastic. Very satisfied.
