Questions & Answers

how many pickets need for 65 feet fence need?

and also how many 4x4 needs thanks
Asked by: Hector
Well Hector, it's a matter of doubling the distance, 2 x 65 = 130 plus 10. The 10 is for culls, some of the pickets will be less than you will settle for. The 4 x 4's are a matter of choosing whether you want them every 6 ft. or every 8 ft. plus 1`, you have one to start. You can order a surplus if you like, the store where I shop has no cost return of extra material, as long as the material hasn't been altered. The most important thing about your project is contact all utilities, phone, electric, gas, because you do not want to dig before they mark their lines. Hitting one of those trying to set a 4 x 4 is a real turn off.

Would these be suitable to use as closet liners?

Would these be suitable to use as closet liners?
Asked by: Bill
YES! You just have to plane them down. I just made about 10 of them into beautiful cedar shelves for my own closet, took about 5 minutes of work on each one to get them nice and smooth. They're gorgeous!

I wanted to use this for an indoor project - is the wood pressure treated?
Asked by: Donna
It is not pressure treated so can be used safely for an indoor project like I used several clear boards for.

How many 5/8 in. × 5-1/2 in × 6 ft picket do i need for a 135 ft fence

Asked by: Chon
I would buy at least 325. You don’t want to stop a job because you don’t have enough materials and you can return any unused pickets.
