Acid will last forever in the sealed container. After it is opened, the water will evaporate. If this happens distilled water to dilute back to correct concentration.

I had a basement sump-pump installed in 2007; It had a ( 2-battery), "basement watchdog charging system". While pulling maintenance and taking the Specific Gravity readings of the batteries; (which was less than 1.220) ...I noticed the battery acid was very dark/black. I purchased the product to replace the contaminated acid. Using care in extracting the old acid, I replaced the acid with the purchased product. I then charged the batteries, and was able to achieved the normal specific gravity reading of 1.220 per cell. Excellent product. Extreme caution was used, while using product against spillage and skin contact....also used in well ventilated area.

There was enough acid in the poorly designed box to fill the standard watchdog battery, however the person who designed this product container needs to go back to the drawing board. The hole at the top of the battery is far too small to look into by itself, let alone with a flexible rubber tube going into it therfore making it easy to overfill. On top of that a strong flashlight needs to be held on one side of the battery at awkward angles by a second person to get a good view of fluid levels, because some idiot didn't take into account that not everyone can prop the box up on a ledge higher than the battery itself to get fluid flowing. However I recommend that everyone purchase a box of baking soda with it to neutalize an acid spill and for easy cleaning from this, because it will occur and that is a guarantee

It is battery acid so make sure you wear gloves and safety glasses because it is kind of awkward to hold and pore. You have to move to each hole with out spilling the acid.

In most cases the 6 quarts in this pack are more than enough to fill the battery to the specified levels. If you are short by a great deal, you should pick up another acid pack. For more information, please contact our customer support team at 800-991-0466, option 3. We are available to take incoming calls from 9am - 5pm CT Monday through Friday.
