I would think so. We put ours on our front porch and then painted the railings to match our columns. We even had to carefully measure and cut the preassembled rails to fit. A bit meticulous but it worked and they look amazing!!
Yes to any size
Yes, The wood components are made from Southern Yellow Pine. Your going to want to use a pressure treated 4x4 which is generally a pine product.
It comes dry, not like regular PT. It is ready to stain or paint.
No, the balusters will be installed in the routed holes on the top and bottom rails. Removing them would require taking the railing apart.
Contrary to the previous responses it is against code to notch or cope the 4x4s as it will reduce their strength. I use 2 1/2" bolts though the 4x4 and 2x10.
To further clarify my answer - this does not work at exactly 9' I had to add blocks. The reason is you must lay the boards out and line up the holes on the upper and lower sections! it requires you to nub off a bit of the 6' section AND the 3' section isn't cut exactly in half. but it does work well beyond the 6' factory length. Lay it out before cutting anything and see what you can do with it, don't just chop one in half and assume it's going to line up! We didn't have any problem with the aluminum poles being out. We set the lower stringer first and put the pipes in, then starting at one end zippered them into the upper one. Took two of us (one to hold the starting end down) but was easy enough. Also should mention I cut the head off the lag bolt so it would become a dowel. If you follow my suggestions and end up scratching your head, that is why. I don't think you really need more than one lag per 2x4 section, and you can just angle screw through a hole the upper portion. That seems to jog my memory as how we kept the lines clean and tight as well. Hope this helps someone!
I found the best way to cut them was to lay them flat on miter saw. Marked both top rail and bottom rail, cut one and then flipped it over to cut the other.
They sell them preambled and as a kit. The kit cost more for some reason.
Yes you can make a gate out of this
