Can I put both in a 10-12 inch pot?

Yes, if you were to pull apart all of the soil and repot, I think it would fit in the 10-12" pot. It might not look as nice as keeping them separate though.

Snake Plants like well draining soils, similar to soils succulents thrive in. Getting succulent soil should work.
