A:  Yes they are angled from one end to the other. In other words, they are cut on a straight line from the smaller end to the widest part on the other end of the shim.

        A:  If visible piece, you'll prefer to make a shim out of same wood. If this is for inside (not exposed) shim, it will probable work great. The last ones I got were hardwood about 1.25" wide and 1/4" high at thickest, but the lots available may vary.

          Inconsistent, some pieces unusable
          These are terribly inconsistent. Some are more than 1/4 inch and no tapering, others are paper thin or full of knot holes and ragged edges.

I ordered two bundles of these UNBRANDED CEDAR shims but received two bundles of NELSON shims that are NOT Cedar, they are like a Yellow Pine. I'm including a picture of that I received. This product either needs to be removed from the website or the description changed to indicate they are NOT Cedar and they ARE of the Nelson brand.
