Product Overview

Blueberry shrubs are becoming one of the most popular choices for east-to-grow edible fruit for the home gardener. The Premier Blueberry bush will reach a mature size of 6 ft. x 6 ft. In spring small white and pink bell-shaped blooms will appear, then fruit will develop in late spring to mid-summer. Blueberry bushes thrive when planted in acidic soil that is rich with organic material and in part shade to full sun environment. When planting blueberry bushes you will want to plant more than one variety to ensure cross pollination which will result in quality fruit. We recommend climax, woodard, becky blue, or tifblue as your cross pollinators.
  • Plant in well drained acidic soil
  • Full sun to part shade
  • Produces edible berries
  • Water often until established
  • Easy to grow/maintain
  • Cross pollinator required for quality fruit

You need different varieties for cross pollination. From the description: "When planting blueberry bushes you will want to plant more than one variety to ensure cross pollination which will result in quality fruit. We recommend climax, woodard, becky blue, or tifblue as your cross pollinators."

Will this produce if I just purchase one shrub? What does pollinator required mean on the description? Thanks!:)

You do not have to have an additional pollinator, but having another blueberry bush near by can help your bush produce higher quality fruit

Can two potted blueberry shrubs do well in a greenhouse?

Asked by 1234erik March 8, 2017

Answer

Yes they can, but they should be moved out during winter to meet the varieties chilling requirements

Can I plant this in a pot. If so, How big of a pot should I use.

Asked by JoeS February 3, 2017
1
Answer

Yes this plant can be planted in a container, and I would pick a container that would be 7 or more gallons that will have plenty of room for the roots to grow. Make sure to use a slow-release small fruits fertilizer to make sure your plant is getting all the appropriate nutrients and make sure to water the container 2-3 times per week.

Does it a live in the winter ?

Asked by Lucky June 20, 2016
1
Answer

The premier blueberry shrub will go dormant during the winter and lose off of its leaves, but just because it is dormant doesn't mean it doesn't mean it doesn't need and water. Make sure to still give your shrub some water at least once a week in your area if it is not raining regularly.

Would I be able to plant this in the ground or is it a container only plant?

Asked by April 30, 2016

Answer

Yes, this shrub can be planted in the ground.

Bushes arrived bare with just a few buds. One was extremely small with just a few branches, Verdict awaits whether they will survive their first spring.

Very nicely shaped with berries on it. Not sure what the many brown spots on leaves are from but hope that will heal. The berries I had the joy of eating were good!
