Product Details

Each carton contains 10 Vents. The ADO Products Durovent 23-1/2 in. x 46 in. Rafter Vent with Built-In Baffle helps keep air moving in your attic. The ventilation system features polystyrene construction, which is lightweight and moisture resistant and the integrated baffle means that you need no blocking material between the vent and the top plate.
  • Install between rafters to provide an unobstructed air channel through insulation to help keep air flowing freely from soffits to ridge vents
  • Ideal for high-volume new construction or inexpensive re-insulation
  • Designed to friction-fit between the rafters or trusses with the vent's cones pushed up against the roof deck
  • Secure the vent in place by stapling the wide nailing flanges to the truss and top plate by using a horizontal stroke with your hammer tacker (hammer tacker not included)
  • Polystyrene material provides a lightweight air channel
  • Water resistant and durable, blocking out moisture and wind from penetrating the attic, to satisfy most building-code requirements
  • Economical way to meet energy code requirements for air flow
  • Integrated baffle eliminates the need for blocking material such as batt insulation between the vent and the wall top plate, as is commonly the practice for installation of rafter vents without an integral baffle

Q:Did this product change from a styrene vacu-formed plastic to a foam egg shell material? I want the plastic version pictured!
by|Nov 15, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  What is pictured is polystyrene. We have not changed the material of the Durovent in the 36+ years we have been making it.

Q:Can these be installed from the outside? I'm pulling out a dozen fire blocks to install vents as a retrofit and would like to staple from the eave.

    Answer This Question

A:  That is really not possible. You have to be able to staple them to the roof deck or sides of the rafters. You will ripe them up before you get them staples into place.

Q:I put one of these at each side of the roof to block insulation from going into the overhang. Are these meant to be added on to and continue all the way to the roof pitch? Meaning I would prob need about 3 straight baffles each side to hit the pitch.

      Answer This Question

A:  They only need to extend past the depth of your insulation. The idea is to prevent blown insulation from falling into the eaves and blocking the soffit vents to the outside air.

        Q:How do they get installed?

        Answer This Question

A:  you can staple them on the rafters

        by|May 7, 2023

A:  These attach to the roof deck; they are stapled on the outer edges and through the middle section. Place them above your top plate - approximately 2 inches into your soffit. This product aims to channel air from your soffit through your insulation. The top of the vent should end up a couple of inches above your insulation.

          by|Oct 28, 2023

A:  Push them between the trusses at the roof and staple them in place.

Best product on the market for maintaining attic ventilarion
The Durovent with Baffle Attic Vent Channel was lightweight, made of long lasting polystyrene, moisture resistant, easy to install, with a stapler. The Durovent had a top plate block attached to prevent insulation from entering the soffet area. The baffling assures sufficient path for air movement for proper attic ventilation, especially for blown in insulation. This product is a much better product than the old card board top plate block and is a primary step for proper attic insulation, decreasing energy cost in my home. My cost for Durovent baffles was $125 for my entire home, including the garage. You can guess what it would the bill could be without proper attic ventilation.

The product is as described. It works well between my 24" OC. rafters. It is flimsy and using a stick to set it in place (existing attic) was very helpful.

Product is thin as paper, for the price they could have made it more durable.

Lite weight and easy enough to work with

What a money maker for the CEO of this compony. This baffle material is POOR. WAY TO THIN. Staples go right thru the thin polystyrene and it cracks and tears easily. For the price you would think the product would be better. Another Greedy Compony

I am truly sorry you feel that way. The Durovent has been made like this for the last 36 years. It is used by countless insulation contractors around the country. We do have another product that is tough enough to be handled more roughly and is definitely better for retrofit jobs. That would be our Pro Vent product that you can also buy through big box stores as well. I wish you the best of luck with your project.
I used them in an existing attic. Not an ideal installation as it was also a low pitch hip roof. Panels are thin which increased my challenge. Probably best used in new construction when there is adequate access for installation.
