how much electric dose it cost to use it

I used all winter long and there was no noticeable change in our utility consumption. We have a gas furnace, so I think, any variation balances out as I did not need to keep the house thermostat as high.

This an electric unit requiring an electric outlet, neither of which should be in a fireplace. It is more like a large electric toaster than a fireplace.

If it's not windy and wet out, I think the heat would make a comfortable difference in taking off the chill. It really depends on so many variables, but I have found that I turn it on when I feel chilled and turn it off once the room (my room is almost 400 sqft) is comfy. It really is an instant fix. There isn't any time waiting for things to warm up, so I think it would be a nice addition for your guests on the patio. Additionally, you can keep the flames on without the heat, for the ambiance, if guests get a bit too much warmth. :)

None. Mine is backed against a wall and I keep things on top of it all the time. The only heat is the blower at the bottom front. I was very cautious when I first got it, worried about safety and such. After awhile, with no issues, I accepted that it was super safe.

Why can't you use it on a small outdoor concrete patio?

It is more a safety concern regarding the relationship of water and electricity. Is the concrete patio enclosed/roofed & free of standing water? Is there a grounded exterior electric outlet there? Would you dump an electric toaster in a sink full of water? The feet on this stove are of plastic composition.

My room has wall to wall carpeting. Is this heater safe&stable enough to use on a carpeted floor?

Hello , Thank you for your inquiry. The fireplace heaters are not for use outdoors in laundry areas or similar indoor locations. Never locate electric fireplace where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container. It is safe to use on a carpeted surface. Kind regards, Support.

No, it does not come with a remote. The box is a thin metal and legs are plastic that you screw on from underneath.

I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase! It has been such a nice addition to my often chilly bedroom, bringing in warmth and the ambiance of a fire without any mess, danger or hassle! Super easy to use and almost ready straight out of the box. Just attach the legs and plug it in! That's it. I highly recommend this little beauty.

Just bought this today. Legs have very small 3 screws that are in tight spaces for each leg. That is the only set up but when I turned it on there was a continuous popping noise even with the heat off. I called the number on the manual and it kept repeating the recorded choices over and over. Finally called the home depot 1-800 line and was transferred to the Hampton Bay customer service. The customer service said it was probably the spindle and it was jarred or misplaced during transport. She said I can bring it back and get it replaced but I feel that I have wasted enough time and will get a refund because they had quite a few . The odds that this will happen again is very likely. The packaging was excellent with Styrofoam and plastic. Box not damaged.
