So our range hoods our manufactured for either way you decide to vent. You should have been supplied with 3 complimentary carbon filters with this range hood. does this vent need exhaust hose and do all hoods require those connections

AnswersNO...this unit can vent directly to the room, OR externally via a duct supplied and /or installed by others if you are not equipped to handle the project. I would refrain from the use of the word "hose"... a hose should NEVER be used to vent a kitchen appliance! Some hoods DO require external venting...check the Manufacturer's Specifications/Recommendations for specific venting requirements!
How high above an electric stovetop should this be mounted?

Overall this RANGE HOOD is a great value considering the "sale" price. It is pretty well constructed, about the same as the more expensive "name brands" that are available everywhere. The "dual" filtration system is a plus, and the additional filters are an added feature not found on most other range hoods in this price range.
The only area that could use improvement would be in the lighting. The supplied (and recommended) 40W MAX BULB (coupled with the non-reflective "black background") does not provide adequate lighting over the cooking area, as compared to the 75W bulb that was recommended for my previous Nutone/Broan range hood. Also, the listing indicated that the included 40 W bulb was a Halogen Bulb, but I think that a "standard" 40W Candelabra bulb was supplied.

Looks great; so far, so good!
I am well impressed with this product. It seems to be very well made, unlike some other (and cheaper) hoods. Far runs quietly, but light is a bit dim. Installation instructions were a bit on the vague side, and apparently assumed a vertical exhaust vent, rather than a through the wall vent. But overall, it was pretty easy to figure out. (I had to guess on the energy efficiency rating, as I've not had it long enough to accurately judge.)

Poor instructions
Looks easy enough to install, haven’t done it yet. However there are no instructions for the ventless option. My assumption is you don’t know out the vent openings at all and simply install the carbon filter (twist on) then turn the knob next to it to the reconciliation setting. For the price it’s what I was looking for. I only needed a range hood for code purposes, really don’t use them with what I cook.
