Do I need one for each hot water source I have 3

Asked by: Debbie
The whole idea of using these is that you put them next to where you want hot water. They are very cheap and it keeps you from pumping hot water all thru your house. I cut my electric bill buy $170 a month. It was so worth it but they are not free and they take work to install and you have to do it right or they will cost you extra in the end.

Does anyone have experience using this unit for a 2 bathroom condo in Florida?
Asked by: Billy
This unit isn't designed for two bathrooms. I have installed it for a single bath apartment and a single sink salon in SC. In each case, the user had to restrict the water flow slightly in order for it to heat sufficiently. It runs on a 60Amp double-pole breaker, which means using 4AWG wire which is about $7/ft. The thickness of the wire makes it VERY hard to connect inside the heater as you must turn it 90° and force it into the connectors. That being said, I still will use it again for single bath applications, especially where the breaker panel is too full to allow for more breakers.

We've installed two of the 13kw heaters in two different locations (1 cabin and 1 Tiny House). They both finally started working as designed, but there are some quirks that need to be worked with. You need huge wire and a big breaker for these. Both heaters seemed to need some time to "break in" the high temperature protection circuit. At first, neither heater would work with both elements turned on. No mater how much water was pulled through the heater, the over-temperature circuit would shut the heaters completely off after about 15-30 seconds. For both heaters, after a couple of weeks of trying different water flow volumes, the over-temperature circuit seemed to just start working as it should and allowed us to use both heating elements as long as we pulled enough cooling water through the heaters. The Specs. say that the maximum water temperature is 130 degrees. Be aware that this does NOT mean that the heater limits the outgoing water temperature to 130 degrees. It means that if the outgoing temperature exceeds 130 degrees, then the heater completely turns off, giving you cold water. The problem with this is that the temperature of the water coming out of the heater is also dependent on how much water is being pulled through the heater (lower flow means the water is in the heater longer so gets hotter). This is a problem in a shower because if the shower water is too hot, you turn the shower water temperature down, drawing less hot water through the heater, increasing the water temperature in the heater, shutting the heater completely off. You don't know it until you get stone cold water in the shower. For showers, it would be better to use a heater that actually modulates the heater to give a maximum water temperature rather than shutting itself off.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 2 out of 4 leaked from a factory seam and... 2 out of 4 leaked from a factory seam and had to be replaced. Of the ones that work, they work well for my shop. I usually only have a single bathroom and don’t need much, but I also have a commercial kitchen and need a lot of hot water for dishes. It works well and I’m paying much less.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not even worth it. We've had this for nearly 6 months, and we walked into a flood zone!!! We opened the face of the tankless heater, and the tube inside was completely split open, and water was just ripping through it. It's also never properly worked. Very hot spurts, to freezing. Would constantly overheat, even if we turned down the temp all the way. Just a waste of money in general. Invest in a better quality brand. Eco-smart has my house and my salon now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I have to rate this product at a minus zero... I have to rate this product at a minus zero because they both were defective, I ended up paying two different electricians to install them but they never worked. I paid 2 electrician because when the first one did not work; I though that perhaps the guy did not know how to install the system so I call a second guy, who also was not able to make it work, finally someone else came and confirm what both guys had already told me that the systems were defective. I am currently out of the country but I am hoping to be able to get my money back when I return to the US.
