Will this unit be ample for a kitchen sink, dishwasher in additionion to a commode and bathroom single sink

no i unit per fixture

So does this unit replace the traditional water heater or do you need to buy something to go with it?

Asked by: Dulces
It is a small unit designed for a single bath or under the kitchen sink. I think you will need a larger unit to heat the water for a whole house. If you get the right sized unit it will take the place of the traditional water heater and save the space.

Can this unit be used in series with an existing water heater? A similar question was asked, but not properly answered. In my situation there is a long run from existing water heater to two of three bathrooms. Multiple times a day, low volume use occurs where well over a minutes water must be wasted to get hot water. A recirc pump is wasteful on the energy side, although it saves water. Also, what is the maximum temperature setting on these units?
Asked by: Joeengineer
Augmenting Mikes response, 75' 6/2 romex, $121, two ole 40 amp breaker, $9, some connectors, pipe as needed, minor. The real question deals with how the unit deals with the water in the lines, at ambient temp, so say 65-75 degrees f, to the transitional temperature of the water as hot hits the. For these units to work in my climate, (Cleveland OH) winter incoming water can be as cold as 35 F. letting the water heater I have (a sunk cost)_ run at 75-85 degrees makes for an effective system. I wish this power (wattage) came with a 3/4" npt connection, There would be an ideal point of primary tank temperature, plus boost temp for an economical system, at the low temperature setting on the tank, there would be virtually no standby losses, especially when compared to 120-125 F. So, back to the specific question, would this unit be able to handle the initial ambient water, the without scalding, boost the tank temperature. I do realize that the flow rate possible at the start would notr be as high as when primary tank water has reached the tankless heater.

8.5kW/240-Volt 1.23 GPM Electric Tankless Water Heater with Pressure Relief Device, On Demand Water Heater is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact heater I wanted to add hot water to my 3,000 sq ft workshop. As the workshop is not used everyday, I didn’t want to add a wasteful tank water heater, so this instant hot water heater seemed ideal. Installation is very simple, requiring you run 220v power and a 1/2 inch water pipe to it. I used Romex SIMpull 6-2 Type NM-B , and PEX piping, both from Home Depot. Like most instant water heater, this unit suggests you add a flow restrictor aerator. I tested with the flow restrictor attached and was able to get as high as 130 degrees, even with the restrictor removed I got a very comfortable 105 degrees at full flow. The heater has a very small footprint and can be installed under the sink if desired. The heater has 3 heat settings, controlled by two switches. Clean up in my workshop just got a whole lot quicker and a whole lot more comfortable.

This water heater worked great for what I was looking for the only thing we found out is if you open the hot water faucet up on high it doesn’t get real hot So you have to run it slow so the water can heat up we were able to get 190 degree water on a slow fill Just need to be prepared for a longer fill in the sink

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot, Hot, Hot Water! We have this installed in an outbuilding on the other side of the pipe that runs to the house. because of this, we couldn't connect to the house hot water heater. This is perfect for hand washing, dish washing and other small things. We use it in an area where we are taking care of puppies and need to make sure there is no cross contamination. The water gets hot enough that we don't have to worry about that. I would not consider using this as a full time shower or for filling a bath tub. The amount of power it uses would be cost prohibitive. Installation of the piping was easy. Pretty much, connect it to the water source, (we used red and blue flexible plumbing pipe) and then connect to the sink. Plug it in and you almost have instant hot water!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well but limited applications product installs fairly easily if you are familiar with basic plumbing/soldering or using shark-bite type connectors. this cannot be used for more than 1 fixture either sink or tub/shower NOT BOTH. relatively easy and small to install under inside or behind the vanity or tub/shower. Provides virtually instant hot water to the spigot. Saves energy especially if you are used to using electricity via a standard hot water tank. this unit only fires up upon demand! Down side is you will need 1 unit per fixture so that means 1 for laundry 1 for each bathroom fixture and 1 for the kitchen. I expect if statistics are true to form they will more than pay for themselves in less than a year!
