Answer This Question

A:  Holes face down

A:  ALWAYS face down. This is common misconception. You aren’t trying to collect 4” of water! You are allowing a path for any amount to flow.

Q:What kind of glue and primer should be used. The ones in store labeled for drainage applications do not work.

A:  I have used the all purpose PVC glue but if it is being buried why glue it. I just take rubber hammer and wedge it in. If you doubt try taking it apart after you hammer it in. Don't know if this helps but I see gluing pipe that has holes in it.

A:  This pipe is HDPE, glues do not work with it, the joints are bell-and-spigot and when installed properly are “soil tight” and no glue is necessary, if you want to you can use drain tile tape to further seal it but unnecessary

A:  No glue is needed to connect these.

A:  This is HPDE. There is no glue for it. Anything you use will sit on the surface, then fall off, without bonding the material. It CAN NOT be glued.

A:  Any standard PVC glue functions fine. Treat this as normal PVC

I actually bought ADS 3 in x 10 ft perforated drain pipe in White. Not that the pipe color matters. I needed 3 inch pipe, because I was going under an existing 4 in drain pipe, and another 4 in run would not fit the application. The drain was at the base of a timber retaining wall. The pipe was good, and I'm glad I could buy it. I just wish it was stocked in the store, so that I wouldn't have to order online and wait. It was also very hard to find 3" tee fittings, elbows, and end caps. I had to get them at a competing store.

I needed to "dry" about 30 ft. of land along the side of my attached garage for future planning of fence installation purposes. The soil type is 4 inches on top of clay/sod mix and all clay underneath. The trench was about 66 ft. in length overall. All trench digging I did manually (shovel, wheelbarrow, muscle, sweat, etc.) because I wanted the project to be a little messy as possible. The trench was 15 inches deep and 14 inches wide. The overall drain system was constructed out of: #2 gravel, perforated drain pipe, 6 oz. contractor grade environmental fabric wrapping gravel and pipe in a "burrito". The system includes 3 service / inlet ports angled at 45 degrees and 1 outlet pop-up port. See pictures and a video (https://youtu.be/ybNtK4gNph8)

The only down fall to these are the connections are very lose. Cannot even glue them as they are so lose. So once you slide all your pieces together make sure you do not allow the middle to separate.

This pipe worked great for new lateral lines. The bell end is deep (4-5") and the pipe easily slides together. Aligning the printing on the pipe helps to ensure the holes are lined up for all the pipe. Installed 100 ft of pipe in about 30 min...and by the way it's very easy to cut...used a sawsall. This pipe is a great value especially if you buy 10 and get the bulk price. The only question was in connecting it with thin wall elbows and tees which only have 1 1/2" deep bells. I think there is special glue for this type of pipe to connect to fittings, but used regular PVC glue...seemed to work. This pipe would be great for French Drains too!

Got it in place in less than an hour.
Fifty plus feet behind a retaining wall. I put it in place alone, and did it in less than an hour.
