    A:  the larger opening is to fit 4" corrugated drain pipe. An end cap would not fit as it too would be the same diameter as this end of the fitting. to connect an end cap you would need a 4" pipe section to snap into each piece for a secure fit.

      Male end fits into a 3" corrugated pipe
      Male end fits into a 3" corrugated pipe, 4" female end adapts to a 4" pipe. I this fitting for gutter downspouts drilled a screw holding fitting to metal downspout and screwed plastic fitting to corrugated pipe so it wouldn't fall off. For what I needed to accomplish, this worked perfect.

        I used it in my drain pipe that was a little smaller but was able to fit it in and I tape over it...

        I actually used these for something than their intended purpose -- and they work great. Being high density polypropylene, they match several other components on cold air intakes on certain engines. I needed four of these to connect to existing tubes and air cleaner adapters. They fit perfectly and I was able to use 3" aluminum ducting to slide over the smaller part. Again, a perfect fit. I had to special order these and Home Depot got them in nearly 10 days before promised. Gotta love that!
