Hello, Thank you for your inquiry! Our awnings must be securely mounted onto studs or other major structural supports of the building. In regards to gutters, a piece of lumber can be mounted to underneath the soffit to the studs and then the awning brackets can be mounted to the lumber. The lumber should have enough height to clear the gutter, along with a width of at least 4" and the length depends on the awning size. Hello, Thank you for your inquiry! Our retractable awnings feature a breathable, soft and long lasting 100% acrylic material – which is made for superior cooling from direct sunlight. We would not recommend treating the fabric as we have not tested any waterproofing products on our awnings, and any modification done to the awning will void its warranty. Although our awnings do offer a water-resistant rating during mild rain, we do not recommend they be exposed to consistent/constant water exposure as the water will eventually seep through and can cause damage to the awnings arms as the water soaked fabric will add substantial weight. Unlike Advaning’s 100% solution dyed acrylic material, waterproof fabrics such as vinyl or polyester do not offer a breath ability aspect and increase heat and humidity when used for shade. Thank you for the inquiry about Advaning awnings. All retractable awnings are designed to provide shade from the sun. The awnings can normally stand a light breeze or drizzle. But we always recommend our customers to exercise caution and keep the awning closed during rain. The weight of the water hitting (or pooling) on the fabric increase pressure, and can possibly damage the awning arms. All Advaning retractable awnings are built with Acrylic fabric which is water resistant, but not water proof. Acrylic fabric comes with an aesthetic softness and feel all its own. High quality acrylics are very resistant to UV light, mildew and water. The properties of Acrylic fabric allow it to be highly breathable, so hot air and moisture will not be trapped under the awning with you.
