Product Overview

Radon is a radioactive gas that is found in all homes. It is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers and kills 6x more people than home fires and carbon monoxide poisoning combined. It is invisible, is found everywhere and fluctuates daily. Radon is 1 of the most important components in our indoor air quality and the only way to know if you are exposed to radon is to measure daily. Every home needs a radon detector. The Corentium Home Radon Detector by Airthings will provide you with detailed information about radon levels in your home. View daily, weekly and long term measurements on the LCD display. Use the data to take the necessary steps to protect your home and loved ones from the dangers of radon gas.
  • Quick results: receive your first radon measurement within 24-hours
  • Unlike a charcoal test, our detectors are unaffected by electromagnetic interference and dust, perform optimally in humidity less than 85% and can be reset and re-used infinitely
  • Continuous monitoring: radon gas fluctuates daily and accessing your radon levels in real time is necessary to minimize the potential health effects
  • Easy to understand - LCD screen displays the average daily, weekly and long term concentrations
  • Advanced technology: the internal architecture of the corentium home radon detector comes from advanced technology normally reserved for commercial-type detectors
  • Every room in your home has a different radon level, the corentium home by Airthings can check all of the rooms in your home by starting a new measurement
  • 3 AAA batteries (included) - no hard-wiring required

The monotone version is not on the website. I searched for the UPC and it is not being sold in any physical store. I checked at my Home Depot and they don't have it. Please put your review and mention that it is for the monotone version!

10 years and this detector is fantastic! We had a professional test perfomed by a radon mitigation professional and the results were almost identical to what this meter was displaying.

I have no idea about the lithium batteries. Mine has been up and running on the same AAA batteries (energizer) for several months now without a hitch

Questionable Quality
I purchased this unit based on the positive reviews, however after issues with two separate units, I don't trust the manufacturing quality of this device. And that makes me not want to trust the readings on this device either. Especially not when it comes to my health. Unit 1: Out of the box, the unit had a missing digits on the display/digitizer. I still let it run a day to see what readings I get. Since the faulty part of the screen was with the main radon reading section itself, I decided to exchange it (See attached image). I was hesitant due to the defective 1st unit, but I decided to try a different one. Unit 2: Followed the instructions again to setup, and this one started calibrating. When the counter crossed 70, i knew something was wrong. AGAIN! Image attached. Ultimately it showed 'Err'. Troubleshooted using the instructions - Reset, battery removal, cleaning contacts etc. Same Err again. Tried several times again, and the same issue each time. I have wasted enough time already making runs to the Home Depot buying, exchanging, returning and troubleshooting this. If I can't trust the manufacturing quality of the device, I certainly can't trust its Radon level readings either. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Price is worth peace of mind!
So glad I bought this device and found out our radon levels were 2 to 3 times above the safe limit. Less than 24 hours after a company remediated the radon issue, we are now measuring 1.5. Easy to use and accuracy confirmed by the remediation company!

I had a professional radon inspection done that showed our radon measurements were slightly higher than the max threshold. We put in a mitigation system in that did show good results. I feel comfortable having this monitor in the area to ensure our numbers stay below worrisome levels. The monitor can be reset so that I can move to another area and leave for a few months too.

Handy little device for continuously monitoring radon levels in a home or building. Runs on 3 AAA batteries. I wish it had the option of an AC adaptor but only runs on the batteries. It shows three different readings: a 1 day reading, 7 day average reading, and a long term reading up to a year. Resetting it or replacing the batteries will erase all previous data. Simple to use; just put the batteries in and place it where you want to test. It will show it's first reading within 6-24 hours.

This radon monitoring device is easy to use and simple to understand. I set this monitor up in a basement bedroom to help determine if there is a radon issue. This monitor reflects the change of radon it detects fairly quickly and does a great job in showing a daily average and weekly average. For instance, I have noticed a spike at times that would show short term radon detection above 4 but the average is below that threshold. A nice tool for renter living in a lower level like a basement and homeowner who has family spending time in the basement. This is my first digital radon detector and have only used the "kit" that you buy and send in after a few days for the results. This one is much faster and ongoing.

This is an interesting instrument in that it does not provide an instant Radon-level measurement. The unit should be placed on a shelf somewhere out of the way in a living area (bedroom, living room, etc.) so that it can continuously take measurements over a period of months for more accurate readings. It updates hourly, displays short term measurements to provide general information. Long term measurements, taken over a period of up to one year, will identify potential health hazards. My overall rating of 5-stars is tentative, and merely reflects my anticipation of what the instrument is supposed to do. A more accurate review will have to wait several months. Oh, get a magnifying glass to read the instructions...

This digital radon detector by AIRTHINGS is an outstanding product for the home owner and professional. (See attached photographs.) Our home is built in a known high-radon area. After moving in we discovered a radon level of almost 10 pCi/L in the basement. We immediately took the necessary measures to bring this level down to below 4 pCi/L. This radon detector now allows us to continuously monitor the status of radon in the basement and other rooms throughout the house to help us ensure the radon mitigation system is still working satisfactorily. The radon detector is user friendly and provides one day, seven days, and long term averages readings. The unit appears to be well built and should provide many years of service. Well done "AIRTHINGS"!
