Hi James, labels should stay on the front of the drawers well!
I have not bought one yet but I am in a business where we have to flame treat plastics like polyethylene. I learned that if you use the tip of the flame from a torch it adds carbon atoms to the surface and you get a good label bond. Milk jug flame treat.
They are molded into the back of the case. You have to cut them out.
The drawer can be divided once which will give you 2 compartments
You divide the drawers in two parts.
I have not seen them sold separately, but I would suggest to buy a 0.050" thick acrylic sheet and cut 30+ 1.5" x 2" dividers from it. https://www.homedepot.com/p/OPTIX-11-in-x-14-in-x-0-050-in-Clear-Non-Glare-Acrylic-Sheet-1X09242A/301138329
I am a machinist and use this cabinet to store my milling cutters. I measured the inside dimensions with a telescoping gauge and the dimensions at the bottom of the drawer is: Inside width: 1.985" (just shy of 2") Inside width between the drawer divider lugs: 1.690 (1 11/16") Inside length: 5.250 (5 1/4")
Inside dimension: 5 3/4 x 1 3/4. I bought 3 for my cross stitch and jewelry making supplies. The one above I use for jewelry findings, which fit perfectly. For stitching I bought two like this, but with a few large drawers in the bottom row. Small drawers are fine for DMC (all labeled so I can actually find the color I need instantly). I stuff the skeins in, maybe getting 10 or so in a little drawer. The larger drawers are good for specialty threads like Rainbow Gallery that are wrapped around bigger cards.
The inside is roughly 2 inches wide, 5.3 inches front to back, and 1.5” top to bottom.
2" x 5.25"
They are closer to 5 inches deep, so your skein wouldn't lay flat.
These drawers do not lock into place. If the cabinet is tipped forward, the drawers might slide open.
The drawers do not lock but the cabinet is very stable and it would take a fair amount of force to knock it over. Also, I have never seen a multi-drawer organizer like this that does have locking drawers
The drawers do not lock in place. There are holes on the back to hang them. That is what I do.
No
No. There is only a tiny tab at the back to prevent the drawer from pulling all the way out when viewing its contents.
They do have a tab in place which stops the drawer from completely coming out of the front. I use mine for small inventory on a counter and have attached a back board so they are pretty secure and I've never had a problem. Hope that helps!
No, the drawers do not lock and yes, it would be a mess if the cabinet fell. Still a very good cabinet.
No they don’t lock in place. My son has tipped it over before and the drawers go everywhere
No, they don't lock in place. There is a stop that prevents the drawers from coming all the way out; however, they can still be easily removed. This stop will not prevent spillage if you tip the cabinet to far forward. I made a clear plastic cover that locks in place for transport.
Dividers for the 64-drawer (small) units are Akro-Mils part number 40716. Dividers for the 24-drawer (large) units are Akro-Mils part number 40717. Hope this info helps.
More deciders are available only through the manufacture’s website or you can phone the company. They are quite pricy.
No, Arko-Mils does not offer any additional dividers.
Yes. I ordered plenty myself. WWW.AKRO-MILS.COM
I don't believe they do, you may have to contact the manufacturer.
No, no replacement drawers, also no drawer dividers were provided, although each drawer has a provision for one divider
According to the manufacturers - AKRO-MILS - there are no replacement drawers available. You might try contacting them. The phone number is on their web site. It appears the part number is 20701. A 3rd party might have some on hand, but when I googled the part number, I got zero results. Good luck.
