A:  Hello CandiceN, thank you for your inquiry. This piece is produced from kiln dried poplar which we do not recommend for exterior use. For your planter use we recommend using an exterior grade pine or cedar. We hope this information is helpful in the completion of your planter beds.

bought them to make 4 piece goblets and inside-out turnings on my wood lathe. They need to be square to work. The worked well, they're square and straight. And they're cheaper than wood available on wood turning sites. Downside is they're only available in poplar in this size. (image is similar in Lacewood.)

Good wood. We used it to create a surround for stained glass in a transom my husband built. He angled the wood and built a mitered surround for the glass and the two open spaces on either side of it.

I really like Poplar wood for lots of construction and hobby projects. It is a fairly soft wood that makes it easy to work with and form while the density of the wood makes it strong enough for most applications. It is relatively light weight which contributes to its versatility. The fact that it is void of knots & other deformations and accepts stains very well make it ideal for fine finished work. I needed a new handle for my trenching tool but seems like no one makes or stocks them anymore so my solution was to make my own. I cut a piece of this wood to length then went about shaping and sanding the piece to fit my trenching tool head and shaped the rest to make in comfortable to handle. Then I used spray rubber for the end of the handle and varnished the wood from head to rubber part. Worked out excellent!! (See picture)

Clean grain, precision perfect cuts, zero warp, easy to handle. Just wish they also had this piece in oak.

Kinda pricey for a shelf support, but it’s my own fault. I was too lazy to cut down a piece of 8’ pine.
