A half-round is typically applied to the edge of a board or shelf to give the appearance of a smooth rounded edge. This could be for decorative purposes or to protect against sharp board edges. Half rounds are also nailed or glued to panels to create a raised look and add depth to your walls or crafts.

      A:  Hi Lindsay, A half round molding is essentially a round dowel cut in half. You can think of the measurements as diameter and radius. When a circle is cut in half, the diameter becomes the width and the radius becomes the thickness. In this case, 3/4" is the width and 3/8 becomes the thickness.

        A:  Look at it this way. The moulding is bassically made from a 3/4" dia. rod cut in half. The 3/4" dim. is the widest dim and the 3/8" dim. is the narrowest

        Easy to Add on the Ceiling
        Before painting the walls and ceiling, we "snapped" a line and placed "painter's tape" along the chalk line. We primed and painted the walls and ceiling. We primed and painted the half-round (this finger-jointed half-round ships without prime). After cutting each section at a 45-degree angle, we used a pin-nailer to attach the half-round to the ceiling and the chair rail to the walls. We used Polyseamseal (my FAVORITE!) to blend any joints and pin-nail holes and then touched up the paint.
