There is no other railing that is suitable for making...
There is no other railing that is suitable for making railings, but... a long piece is always tends to bent, twist, and warp. I had to shop two places to get the straight pieces that I liked. I am no expert but someone at HomeDepot should figure out a way to keep them straight. Good for business.

Nice and straight, good solid feel. But what I really wanted was this same shape in oak! Tried TWO Home Depot stores. One had only a single piece in oak, too short for my job by a foot and a half. The other had only a single piece in oak, long enough but severely bent. I gave up and bought this pine option.
