Questions & Answers

how far from the bottom of the barrel is the spigot?

Asked by cf723 March 21, 2021

Hi cf723, The spigot is about 14" from the bottom for your watering can. There is also a bottom drain fitting 1.5" from the bottom at the back to access all of the water. Thanks, Ed@TeamAlgreen

How does this hold up in a dry and cokd climate? Wyoming/CO/UT?

Asked by Jessica February 11, 2021

Hi Jessica, This rain barrel is suitable for extreme temperatures.Thank you, Alby@TeamAlgreen

What is the overflow system? Do we need to saw off one of the two nubs at the top of the back and...

Asked by HomeDepotCustomer November 13, 2020

Hi, Yes, we recommend sawing one or both of the overflows. They are left closed so people have the option for linking 2 together or only use one overflow hole if desired. Thanks, Ariana@TeamAlgreen

Can you connect two of them together?

Asked by CAR July 25, 2018

Hi Car, Yes, there are 2 overflow spouts at the back of the barrel. To link 2 Ecocascata's together you would open 1 of the overflows and connect it with a 1.5" tube to the other rain barrel overflow. This way, when the first rain barrel is full, the overflo water will start filling you second barrel. Thank you, Team Algreen

can part of the top of this barrel be used as a flower planter?

Asked by Kimberly March 14, 2017

Hi KJH, Thanks for asking. There is a well in the top of the rain barrel that allows for a small flower or plant. Thanks, Team Algreen

Is the spigot brass? What is the difference betwen the eco-cascata and the regular cascata, aside from detachable top?

Asked by Porchlight April 22, 2016

Hi Porchlight, Thanks for asking. Aside from the detachable top, the Ecocascata does not come with a 6-foot garden hose. Thanks, Team Algreen

Love both the aesthetic and the extra large capacity of these rain barrels! Set up was fairly easy. All fittings were provided. I have two - one overflows into the other. I set them on stands made of 8x16x8 cinder blocks with 24x24x2 pavers top and bottom, for a total height of 20 inches to facilitate using the water. The planter was not particularly useful as it fills with water, so I drilled holes in the planter basin.

This is a good product. However, I wanted a true brown. The brownstone rain barrel is really a taupe color. I know there is another one that is named taupe, and it really is light taupe. This "brownstone" is a darker taupe. It's nice, but it's not brown.

The only issue I had is that the spigot valve hits the actual barrel. I had to cut the valve handle down a bit to make things fit.

Nice rain barrel
Set this up with the Flexifit Universal Diverter Kit, it worked well. The only thing is that you can't screw the brass spigots in all the way and have them still be able to open and close. They don't leak or anything, but you have to screw them in only part of the way.

False colour
I retuned mine (brown) and I never tried it out. The colour you see on the manufacturer's website has been Photoshoped to appear very dark and attractive. You also don't see the obvious seam lines on the website. Mine was nowhere near that colour. The real one also two colours in it, a very drab brown and black. Mine was also heavily scratched in a large area. The nice thing about it is that the faucet is high enough for a watering can to fit under it (about 11 inches).

Cracked at the seam
Bought this one to replace a different style that broke over the winter ( it was drained) Put all the parts together and set it under the rain spout. I noticed water leaking from underneath and found that it was cracked right at the seam.
