AnswerMake sure the model you bought is supposed to be lockable. I would think all the sliding panels should be. If your's does not have the mechanism, you may have to return to store for replacement or see if store will supply a replacement locking mechanism you can easiely install if door is built for one that was never installed.

You really can't beat the price. And its new - why screw around witrh a used door when you can install a new one for this money. I bought the door frame, and panels separately - in kit form. The install was very easy and straightforward. I did most of it myself. You do need room in your rough opening to get this door square. Every part of this door fits together perfectly and if you dont get the frame square you are going to have issues. The door operates smoothly with no issues. Absolutely exceeded my expectations. Really makes me wonder what those name brand doors are giving me for so much more money.

Poor quality door
This door is worst door I ever installed on my life, it will not close properly. Do NOT spend your money on this door, do your self a favor and go a step higher.

Door is good for the money.
This is a good door for what you pay. Although we had some issues (we bought three of them) the customer service was outstanding and went above and beyond!! We had the latch issue which some have mentioned and they were happy to send us replacements. Do not remove the stickers (or take pictures of them) on the insdie frame that is where your serial numbers are that customer service needs. Anyway good door, great customer service!!!

Lockset will unlock itself upon few hand bumping on exterior handle
Door installation requires two adult to lift and plumb and level in place. It took us 8 hrs from start to finish. Door operates very smoothly and brighten up the room nicely. However, lockset (included) with the door does not keep door securely locked keeping intruder or burglar out as anyone can just using their fist to lightly pound on the exterior handle and lockset will release lock automatically. This is flawed by design with American Craftsman door. I'm surprised that no one writes about this issue to warn other consumers who are using this door model. Please change the design of the lockset so that it cannot automatically release by vibration or pounding on the door.
