5-1/8 in. x 8 in. x 13 ft. Unfinished Faux Wood Beam

A 2"x4" is probably not large enough to mount this to and achieve significant security. We built a three sided box (exterior diameter the same as the interior diameter of the beam) out of 1" by ?" and mounted it to a ceiling joist. The beam then fit over it like a glove and we pre-drilled a few holes in the side of the beam, counter sinking them in the side of the beam and using putty or caulk to hide the heads. We then re-stained the putty/caulk to match what we had stained the beam.

Absolutely Sarah. We mounted an electrical box to a ceiling joist and then cut a hole in the beam to accommodate the base/bezel of the light fixture.

Thanks for your inquiry. Per Minwax specifications, Gel stain can be removed with Mineral spirits.

Does not have primer on it. Use a good quality primer if you want good results.

There isn't a repeat of pattern that you can match very well. We used 2 beams and butted them together. You can tell there are 2 but really gives a more natural look of wood. It's not very noticeable unless you are looking for it. Most people have told us they never really noticed it. We stained the beams in a dark walnut.

You'll need to make wooden blocking to mount the beam to. I used screws to affix the faux beam to the blocking. You can't really leave it unfinished as the beam is just closed cell foam like the kind that comes from a can used to insulate around windows. I used gel stain to finish the beam.

The Faux Beam itself will not support any weight.

Would recommend gel stain

The interior is U-shaped. It measure approximately 6 inches wide by 4 inches high.
