Now you can easily and economically recreate the rustic look afforded by authentic, aged oak beams with American Pro Decor Unfinished hand hewn beams. Cast from the molds of genuine reclaimed wooden barn beams in high density polyurethane with exacting realism, American Pro Decor hand hewn beams not only convey all of the characteristic distressed markings and rugged texture of the wood beams that were hewn into shape by early settlers, they are indistinguishable from the originals after which they have been manufactured. Ideally suited for transforming ordinary houses, stores and restaurants into extraordinary, charming country style homes, shops and inns, American Pro Decor hollowed hand hewn beams are lightweight, sturdy, and easy to install on virtually any type of surface by means of affixing them via countersunk nails or screws to nailing blocks or wood planks. To heighten the overall authenticity of an installation, American Pro Decor offers optional rubber beam strapping and polyurethane U-brackets, which perfectly replicate the look of the heavy, forged wrought iron fastening hardware used to secure and affix the beams of yesteryear in place.

    What tool (Saw) could I use to cut it and get the desirable length? any suggestion?

    Thanks for your inquiry. Any hand held fine teeth saw can be used. It cuts easily. It is made of high density Polyurethane.

    Can these be used on a vaulted ceiling, going down the seam of the vault?

    Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, it can, you need to install pre-cut wood blocks every 3-6 feet (The wood blocks will look like forming a triangle on the vaulted ceiling. Once fastened,slide the beams over the wood blocks and install screws from the sides of the faux beams to the wood blocks. Installations instructions available if requested at sales@americanprodecor.com

    We used the recommended gel stain on our beams. The stain went on very dark, is there a way to lighten the stain color?

    Thanks for your inquiry. Because gel stain is oil based, it is difficult to lighten the color once applied. We generally recommend to test a small sample piece before staining it. An option can be, since the stain is already dried, to primed and re do the staining process with a lighter desired stain.     Thanks for your inquiry. For Exterior applications it is recommended to use "UV" protecting clear coat. We suggest "Zar" oil based exterior polyurethane. Also it is recommended to use a high quality construction adhesive along with non-corrosive screws or non-corrosive nails.

    The product has a very nice natural look. Using gel stain made it really pop. I did a lot of checking on-line for the same product at a lessor cost, but buying through HD is the way to go. It was easy to cut, handle and install. I used anchors from scrap wood, but I would recommend hanging a 2x4 the length of the ceiling for the target location.

    This beam is lightweight easy to cut and easy to install . staining was no issue either with the ability to make various tones the Beam look real separates two rooms with different ceiling texture and define the rooms as individual spaces without loosing the open look concept, very pleased !!
