From my wall to center of drain is 11 1/4 inches will this fit or will I need the 10 inch rough in

Asked by Al July 29, 2019

Answer

The 12" version is likely going to be too close to the wall and the lid will likely interfere with installation. A 10" toilet will have a slightly larger gap, but you will be able to install it into your space. Your American Standard Consumer Connection Team.

Does the Cadet 270FA001.020 toilet have a fully glazed trapway? The bowl is a 3717F.001 that contains the trapway. I thought all Cadets do, but no where in the specs or literature for this toilet or any 270xxxxx toilets does it say that.

Answer

Yes, this would have a fully glazed trap way.

I recently ordered a Cadet compact elongated 270FA001.020 toilet that does not come with a seat. However the spec sheet for the toilet says to purchase separately seat 5321.110.020. This seat does seem like it is available. What seat should I order?

Any elongated seat will work with this model. -American Standard Tech Team

Is there a way to tell what model American Standard toilet I have? I've looked in the tank where I found the following:   4021             79               6.0 lpf. / 1.6 gpf I need to know the model for parts replacement.

What is the distance from rim to water surface?

I measure 6" down from rim to water surface after a fresh flush and waiting for the tank to re-fill.

I am interested in the Cadet 3 Compact Right Height Elongated Toilet - 1.6 GPF. Will a regular elongated seat fit this toilet? Or does it require some other special seat particular to this model?

Asked by NOLA February 28, 2018

Answer

This toilet does not require a special seat. As long as you get an elongated seat, it will fit.

I have 91/4" from wall to center of drain. Will this toilet fit?

It would be very tight. I would recommend dry roughing it in first to make sure the tank isn't into the wall.

what is the exact measurement from the top of the water tank down to the floor?

I measure 30-3/4" from the floor to the top of the cover on the water tank. Thanks.

I wish I would have know that to flush the toilet, you have to hold the handle down to complete the flush. You don't just flick the handle down and walk away, you must hold the handle down until the complete flush takes place. I would not have purchased and installed this toilet if I had known this ahead of time. I do not recall reading this or seeing it in videos that this would be required.

I am actually very impressed, by a toilet no less - it flushes excellent, rarely leaving anything behind. Even though it is only a 1.6 gal per flush, it is designed with a large flap valve opening at the bottom of the tank and a wide bowl rim that together, in my opinion anyway, let all the water quickly and evenly fall from the tank and out around the bowl rim and then evenly straight down the sides of the toilet bowl - the water does not swirl around like you're used to with a regular old toilet (like the one I replaced). I suppose, with the limited (1.6 gal) of water the gov't standards are allowing, that swirling toilets are a thing of the past. I saw the youtube of the guy showing that, in his various tests, this toilet was leaving little bits at a certain spot on the side of the bowl, but they must have improved it since then because I have not seen that happen. I will say that you cannot just flick the flush lever, you have to hold it for a second to let the water get a good start on falling down from the tank. This toilet is about 4" shorter out from the wall than versions of similar toilets that are not "compact" - this is what we needed since the bathroom it's in is fairly small. The extra height of this toilet (vs. a regular height toilet) is very nice - the reason we replaced our old one was because I was due for hip surgery - it ended up being a big help. I also bought the $47 or so "matching" American Standard slow-close seat which works excellent too, I love the slow-close and the seat looks really nice. The seat's instructions are confusing as to which way the inserts go in - if you look closely, they show both for a toilet with the smooth sides and hidden flow path / mounting bolts and also for a more normal toilet (like this one) where you can see the flow path / mounting bolts.........unless you really look closely at the little drawings they have, you may not realize they are showing methods for two different toilets.....I made this mistake and had to use a deepwell socket and a little dish soap to fit down over the inserts and compress them so I could get them back out. The only other glich I had was in ordering - I should have split the seat and toilet up into two separate online orders - since the seat was available "in-store" but the toilet wasn't, they changed my card for the seat separate and then tried to charge for the toilet right away as a second charge and my card declined it....so I got the call from the credit card co. and then had to call up and re-order the toilet by phone, but Home Depot took care of me and it all worked out. As far as installing a toilet goes, I watched a couple youtube's on doing it and watched and guided the toilet so that it was centered on the drain hole in the floor and the mounting studs as a helper lowered it down over the studs. It was not all that heavy to lower down because the tank is not mounted at that point and there is no water in the toilet. We used the standard wax ring that came with the toilet. That's all, thanks.

One of the only Elongated Toilets that would fit in our tiny master-bath. Flushes very well, the refill of the tank is very quiet. The install took a few hours of a diamond wheel grinding High Areas on the base so it wouldn't wobble.(used straightedge on base) and the hold down bolts should be 3/8" or at least a better grade, one of mine broke snugging it down. All in all were very happy with it (now). Would be 5 star if not for the Wobble in the base!

Replaced a Bone colored Sterling toilet which did not match our new white vanity top. The handle had to be held down to get the old unit to flush and even then it did not flush clean every time. None of that with the new one- hit the handle and this baby flushes right now and clean 99% of the time! 10 min to install; no tools needed and comes with new flange gasket. Only quibble might be it narrows up too much towards the back on the bottom and a small amount of missing floor tile was exposed. A little tan filler fixed the appearance. Liked the performance so much ordered a 2nd one for the other bathroom.

It does have good features, but it keeps breaking down, the water flow filler broke and would not stop filling the tank, that had to be replaced. The flaper was sticking and had to be replaced. The toilet seat broke. American Standard is replacing the defective products but it is a plain hassle.
