I purchased the American Standard toilet for a home renovation. I installed the toilet using the directions supplied. After the installation I noticed drops of water on the floor. Logically I assumed the leak was from the plumbing portion I did. I had used a new water line. I chose to replace it with another new braided water line. Still a small leak. I then decided to replace the old water shut off . The leak was dripping from the bottom of the shut off. In order to replace the shut off correctly I had to cut a section of drywall. I then unsweated the joint and installed the new shut off. To my dismay the small drip began shortly after turning the water back on. I then decided to remove the Fluid master water valve. When I did I found that the red rubber gasket had been misformed during manufacturer. The water vale had been installed by American Standard. The valve was attached to the tank when I removed the toilet from the carton. Very disappointed, I am the homeowner not a plumber. I can not recommend this manafacturer.

Left the Plant with Burr on Tank Bolt Hole
I've owned/installed four of these. Love the look and performance compared to the econo toilets. But the 4th one was of poor quality. There was a porcelain burr on the lip of the tank where one of the retention bolts goes. (Another one was on the outside of the hole where the washer and nut go, but I don't think this caused the leak.) This prevented a seal and caused a leak. Called AS for warranty service. They sent a tank-to-bowl installation kit for a Champion, not a Cadet. I now have to call back to get the correct parts. Also, they did not send a replacement tank as agreed.

      Toilet tank spontaneously cracks???
I can't believe that a tank can spontaneously crack without any pressure, weight, or touch. My husband and I all of a sudden heard an unusual noise as we were standing in front of our sink vanities. We could not pinpoint what the sound was until he went to use the toilet and was surprised that there was water leaking all over the floor. He noticed that our American Standard toilet tank had a significant crack and then there's another hairline crack in separate areas of the toilet tank. We are trying to clean up the water mess at 1:40AM and we have no toilet in our bathroom to use. I've had other people own toilets over 10yrs and to have one fairly new to crack without anyone/anything near it or touching it shows the poor quality or maybe we have a defective toilet.

        A good no-frills toilet
This is your basic toilet. It is a 1.28GPF that does save a little on water. I just installed it and overall the install went well. I was replacing an older toilet which had a cracked tank. All the toilets in my house are American standard so I decided to stick with the same brand. Here's what I found. GOOD: Install was easy, Basic instructions included. all parts fit and worked as they were intended to. nice plastic tool included to assist with tank installation. 3 inch trap and flapper to really produce a rapid and powerful flush. uses plastic knobs to secure bowl to floor. Prevents corrosion. Deep caps that cover the floor mounting knobs. No need to cut mounting bolts off. comfortable height for sitting. slow-close seat included. Bad: Flush lever takes more effort than usual to flush. This is because of the 3 inch flapper designed to release water faster the handle on the flush lever has a sharp edge which is uncomfortable to use The seat seems a little thin and flimsy and tends to slide around. Had to go from a 9 inch long to a 12 inch long supply line since the tank is higher and smaller. The tank is a lot smaller than the previous toilet. Overall a good but not fantastic toilet. It will get the job done well and saves a bit of water doing so.

I was disappointed with the new toilet from day 1. After flush, the water would not fill up the tank unless I manually touch the fluidmaster chain (see pictures). Also, I noticed, compared with the picture from AS website (also attached), the fluidmaster tube and valve in my new toilet is located too close to the corner walls which I suspect is the cause of water not filling up the tank because the trigger got stuck against the wall unless I manually released it. It is very frustrating!!!

            Defected
I’m very disappointed with this purchase this toilet was expensive to be manufactured with poor quality.. I just figured out my toilet is leaking and eventually stops on its own water my bill came up 200$+ dollars more this month due to it leakin!!! The problem is the floater doesn’t have enough space to rise on its own..it is too close to the tank wall.

Tank to Bowl gasket leaks, dye in bowl stains grout.
Installed this in a brand new bathroom. Install went smoothly, and I was thinking "This is a great toilet. I have repaired the three toilets in my hoe from time to time over the years, but in the future I may replace them with one if these rather than rebuild the internals". Installed , turned on water to toilet, no leaks. Great. Flushed toilet, all looked good, went to bed. The next morning I had a blue puddle under one of the tank bolts. I snugged the bolt down a a bit more with the tool provided, but it continued to leak. I removed the bowl and inspected the rubber tank bolt gaskets, and the tank for cracks. All looked good so I installed it again, swapping the gaskets and bolts left to right, the leak stayed on the same side. I need to put cups and bowls around the toilet to contain the leaks as the blue dye that is all over the inside AND OUTSIDE of the tank gets into my new light grout and stains it. I removed it and cleaned it again, the installed it and did not flush it for a day. No leaks. I flushed it, and sure enough the leak returned. It is not the tank bolts that are leaking, it is the tank to bowl gasket. There is no way to compress it more as it can only be tightened until the bowl and tank make china to china contact. I have been on hold with them for 30 minutes hoping they have a solution. I used a wax free seal for the closet flange and it has been adhered to the bowl horn, or I would return this thing today for a different brand. I am hoping they have a solution, but I am guessing a better quality aftermarket tank to bowl gasket may be the best option. I never would have thought that in this entire bathroom renovation the toilet would be the most troubling thing, but thanks to the Cadet 3 I was wrong.

Nice toilet for it's small stature
I was kind of backed into a corner, literally, with this toilet. I have a large home with several bathrooms, but this one bathroom in particular required a toilet with a 10" bolt pattern and had to be shorter than 27" to still allow the door to close. This toilet was the only candidate that I could find that met all of my very strict criteria. Typically I like 12" bolt pattern, elongated bowls, and pressure-assisted flushes, but I just couldn't get those options for this location without paying an astronomical amount. This toilet handles itself well considering it's small round bowl size and tiny tank. The flush is pretty strong considering, although I have had a couple moments that required a few flushes. The toilet was super easy to install, possibly the easiest toilet I've ever had to install, and from start to finish it only took about an hour. That hour included removing the old toilet and silicone from the floor, removing the old wax ring, installing the new wax ring, bolting the toilet to the ground, bolting the tank to the toilet, hooking up a new water line, and siliconing around the base. That's pretty quick. If you absolutely have to have a small bowl, 10" bolt pattern toilet, that's economical, this is the one to buy.
