Poor quality on American Standard Toilet
Tank had flaws in the area where tank attached to toilet seat. Result was leaks around the gasket between tank and seat. After 3rd attempt by professional plumber and nothing but leaks, the toilet was returned for full refund.

Flush valve is a no-go
As others have noted the flush valve does not work as advertised. When the handle is pressed, the round flapper lifts up and then drops immediately, only letting a small amount of water into the bowl. There is no flush. I called the service line and they walked me through it and even sent me replacement parts. Still no joy. I then took others advice and bought a replacement 3" flush valve. It worked fantastically! So for an extra $16 I got the toilet I needed. Anyone want to buy some extra AS flush valve parts?

I'm sorry to see you aren't completely satisfied with your American Standard Champion toilet. We put a lot of thought into our products, so it is unfortunate whenever we do not meet a customer’s expectations. The flush valve will open and close very quickly in order to use the 1.28 gallons per flush, as this is a 4" flush valve. The water level in the tank does need to be 1/2" below the overflow in order to ensure the correct amount of water is being used. Please visit the American Standard Website, and email us directly through the “Contact Us” section and reference your review. Your American Standard Consumer Connection Team. AmericanStandard

    Must hold down handle!?!
I bought this toilet on 8/15/2021 and it WILL NOT flush properly unless the handle is held down. It comes with the American Standard flush valve (4215a tank), which is the problem, as the valve closes too rapidly resulting in a ~half flush. I have another American Standard toilet, almost exactly the same model, but it comes with the Fluidmaster 540 flapper flush valve (4299a tank), and it flushes perfectly - no need to hold down handle. My advice: don't buy this toilet unless you plan to replace the AS flush valve with Fluidmaster.

      Nice replacement
When our old toliet had broke the third time causing a very expensive water bill, we decided to replace. It was in-stock in store and on sale for $189.00 Pick up was easy, it's 90lbs so I asked for help to load. You will need two people to install. I am a woman 38 years old and I needed a hand to lift. I Uninstalled the old toliet my self while my husband unboxed the new one. Very easy to do. Cut the main water off just in case. Turn off the valve under the toliet as well. Then flushed it to get the water out as much as possible. After I took the old bolt caps at the base of the toliet off and unscrewed them. Unscrewed the valve hose. That's it. Just pull up. There is a wax ring so you will have to give it a good pull off the old bolts. Then my husband helped me carry it to the curb. Have a towel handy it may leak. Leave it level and you should be good. After I installed the new seat first. Simple just follow directions and use a screwdriver. Make sure it straight om the seat before you do so. Next I removed the old wax ring with a paper towel.. it's sticky if you have gloves may want to throw on a pair. Make sure it's completely removed. Take old bolts out of the floor. Loosen the bolts from base and slide in to the exsistant bracket. Measure the distance, from the wall if you don't you will have a crooked toliet. Tighten I had to use pliers. Make sure its tight or it will rock. Next place the toliet sideways on a safe surface. We used the back of the couch. It's clean don't worry! Place the wax seal on and pushed to make it tight on the base. My husband helped me here, to heavy for me. He placed it over the bolts in the floor. Add the white star shaped fastened tight both sides. Measured from the wall agian and made sure it was level. You may need to shim depending on your floor. Next grab the top water tub. Add the screws and tighten to the base. The little white tool helps. Leave the top off to do so make sure its tight and level. Next attached the valve. Made sure it was tight. Thats it. Used a level agian. Turned on the main water. Opened the valve and we got a new toliet. Works well doesn't rock as long as you do what I said above. Anyone that says it rocks did not! That's it. If I can do it so can you. An extra hand is helpful. Under, 45 mins. If u think it will take you longer shove a old towel in the hole. It will start to stink over time.

We replaced our old 1970 toilet with the American Standard. It made a lot of difference in seat comfort and flushing strength. What was really helpful is to have everything that is needed to come with the box. No trying to figure out any valves or seat or rings or wax ring...it is all there. Just follow the step by step instructions and it is a done deal. Feel great having done it myself.

        Leaked out of the box
Had to replace the prior American Standard Champion I installed in 2014 due to a crack in the tank at the flush handle, so that's a bad start. Have installed many toilets, 4 of these in fact. The replacement has a manufacturing defect in the tank that caused the fill valve stem to leak. Will pursue warranty, still frustrating to remove the old toilet, install the new one, and have it leak immediately. Tried replacing the fill valve assemble as recommended to no avail, see photos for defect. Need more Quality Control at the site in Mexico where these things are cast. Also included label with lot code so you can maybe avoid this batch until they get their act together again.

When flushed, water does not rinse the bowl, it just runs down in a few places. The rest of the bowl stays dry.
I bought two of these toilets at the same time and installed both of them myself. The package is very complete and includes everything needed. It still is a chore due to the weight of the old and new toilets. Everything seemed OK, both flushed seemingly well and no leaks or problems. My wife cleaned them about a week later and told me one of them didn’t seem to be rinsing the bowl I kind of blew it off as I really didn’t want to consider having to change out a toilet again. Big mistake on my part. The thing is defective, it doesn’t flush properly and it’s more than a pain to swap out. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TOILET! I have included a picture of the bowl after being dusted with cleanser and then flushed. All of the cleanser should be rinsed away and gone. You can see that it is not!

              Strong Flush
This is an amazing toilet. Our old one flushed really slowly and backed up so easy. This toilet flushes anything. We love it so much, we're replacing all the rest of our toilets with the American Standard Champion toilet.

                No Quality Control
This toilet is rated very high, I'm not questioning the design. The Issue I have is purely with American Standards extremely bad quality control. The first two I brought home had very bad cracking inside the bowl where it meets the rim, after checking two more toilets in store and finding the same problem I went to a competitor thinking it was just a bad run of toilets at home depot. At the competitor store I opened a like model toilet in store and it looked usable. Only after getting it home and unpacking it I found the tank was bad, having gouges & glazing issues inside the tank. Back to the competitor I swamped out the tank only to find during installation the toilets base was not true. They are made in Mexico and at $250 dollar price point they should not have the craftsmanship issues they have.
