Questions & Answers

Doors it automatically switch the sprayer off when turned off?

If you have the sprayer on and then turn the faucet off, will it automatically switch back to regular water flow (not sprayer) the next time the faucet is turned on?
Asked by: NS1
American Standard is definitely wrong. We have this faucet in our new house and my 5 year old thinks it's funny to push the button on the faucet that sets it to spray mode and watch us unknowingly get blasted by the overspray the next time we turn on the faucet.... IF it was designed to turn off one it lost water pressure, it completely fails that requirement.

someone said the spray keeps dropping and they have it scotch taped together

does this happen frequently and if so, what does Amer/Std do to remedy this?

When I installed mine I put the counter weight a littl far hence the spay was not going up. After changing it to a closer position it doesn’t drop any more

Can the handle be located in the front? Is the handle permanently attached or can it rotate to instal at the center

Asked by: Mtab
Amendment to previous answer: After posting I looked at my faucet and the little red/blue hot/cold indicator on the lever is actually a button that can be removed and put back in. It's not "keyed" in any way so I it can go back in any orientation you like. This means left hand mounted, front mounted, or even if you just desire forward for hot, back for cold, just swap hot and cold supply lines and reorientate the little indicator button. This is a solid win for American Standard.

I just experienced the worst Customer Service with American Standard and because of that, I will never buy another AS product again. Since when is it OK for a Customer Service person to hang up on a customer who is simply frustrated but not being rude? Do not buy the Fairbury pull-out kitchen faucet because there is a design flaw. The faucet loses water pressure and when the sprayer head is removed to clean, the piece that connects the sprayer head to the hose gets sucked up into the gooseneck part of the faucet. There is no replacement part available so you can't reattached the sprayer head to the hose. The only option is to take the faucet apart and remove the hose to try to find the piece. If you can't do this yourself because of a handicap, you will either have to pay for a plumber or buy a new faucet. American Standard will only replace the faucet if you have the original receipt to prove it was purchased at Home Depot (even though HD is the only place that sells this model). I will be buying a new faucet and it won't be an American Standard product.

While I liked the finish and design, have had go back to Home Depot twice due the the 1st faucet the cold water within the faucet wouldn't work and the 2nd one the hot water within the faucet didn't work. Did some basic troubleshooting (swapped water line to ensure it wasn't within the valve or plumbing), and traced it back to the faucet itself. While a decent price, you will spend more time and effort returning them to the store...just spend a little more upfront and get a better quality controlled faucet.

The only issue I have is the pull down spray faucet weight gets caught up in the plumbing hook ups underneath. After pulling the sprayer nozzle out, you have to work with it a little to reseat it correctly back onto the sprayer tube after use.

The only issue we had was with the instructions. There were illustrations but no written instructions. It would have helped to have written instructions to go along with the pictures.

Hoses were not long enough. Had to pay plumber an extra 20.00 for extension hoses. Called American Standard, on hold for 25 minutes. was told to unscrew sprayer from hose and let water through. I did not work read cleaning directions to clean cartridge as debris from my pipes got stuck into cartridge. The faucet I had was in for years with no water pressure problem. Plumber stated its only hot water. unheard of my water sent a deposit. Agent told me to have plumber take faucet out and return to Home Depot. All this costing me money. Not a friendly experience American Standard

This is the one my wife wanted so I went to the Depot and got one as requested. When I go home and opened the box there was staining on this faucet. At first I thought it was tape residue, it was not, it was on the stainless finish and a cloth could not rub it off using Windex. Well I carried it back and while I was there I looked at another one in stock. Guess what, same stain on the stainless, I guess it's not stainless is it. I ordered a Moen and my wife installed it and was bragging about it on Facebook how easy it was to install. Cheaper is not always better, happy wife, happy life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaked right out of the box Recommended by store staff. I'm not a plumber, just a diy homeowner, so installing it wasn't fun. I did a good job though, all my connections were tight and didn't leak. But the end of the extendable hose that connects to the head leaked from under the ferrule. No amount of tightening could fix it. It's either a broken hose under the shield, or the ferrule holding the brass bit at the end was installed poorly. No matter the cause, very poor QC by "American Standard". Returning it for another brand, don't want to risk another failure.
