The cap to the stopper in the drain disappeared and I have no idea what style the faucet and drain are. I purchased it 6 years ago and I don't have the receipt anymore. Are the drains standard size? I was thinking of purchasing one to see if it fits.

Anonymous, Yes, a typical bath drain is 1.25". A good one to try would be the M953450-0020A for a standard drain. Sincerely, your American Standard Consumer Connection Team

I purchased this to replace an older American Standard drain assembly.  The pipe diameter is the same, but the overflow holes on the new drain assembly are almost twice as tall so it doesn't fit.  How do I find a correctly fitting replacement?

CSPS, . Please contact us directly through the American Standard website “Contact Us” located at the bottom of our home page. We will need to know the model number of the faucet so we can see which drain will fit with it. Sincerely, your American Standard Consumer Connection Team

I have an older wall mounted sink manufactured ~1971. This model looks essentially identical to what I have. Do you have a specification sheet? What is the diameter of the drain part that goes the the sink hole? Length of the entire drain piece?

Answer

Hello, Thank you for reaching out to the American Standard Consumer Connection Team. The overall length of the drain is 8", this has a standard 1.5" tailpiece. If there is anything we can assist you in the future, please feel free to contact us at 1-855-815-0004 Monday – Friday, 8AM – 7PM EST or Saturday 10AM – 4PM and an American Standard Consumer Connection Advisor will be happy to assist you.

Had to discard white plastic disk that sits against white ball on pivot arm to get it to screw in. Is this normal? Now I notice the drain won't stay closed and falls back to open position. White disk was covering the threads so couldn't scrw cap on.

Hello, Thank you for reaching out to the American Standard Consumer Connection Team. While this drain will fit into a Cadet sink, you need to see if the drain will be compatible with your faucet. Check the faucet installation instructions, which will also include drain installation questions. If you need additional assistance please visit the American Standard Website and email us directly through the “Contact Us” section and an American Standard Consumer Connection Advisor will be happy to assist you.

Can you tell me where to find installation instruction for your metal drain Part Number: M953450-0020A? Does it require silicone caulk, plumber's putty, or nothing? Thank you.

Asked by Nancyin Boston July 1, 2020

Answer

Nancyin, Thanks for the question, you will need to put plumbers putty or silicone underneath the flange of the drain, it would depend upon your sink. Check with your sink manufacturer to make that determination. Your American Standard Consumer Connection Team.

I was cleaning the sink a few weeks after plumbers installed my new American Standard Chatfield faucet set when the metal drain cover ring just slid right off. Turns out that the drain assembly that comes with the faucet set made for HD is plastic and the metal ring is glued on but can break off. The faucet is, of course, now discontinued (even though it bought it just 2 months ago!) so I could not get a replacement drain through American Standard. But their customer service said it was available through Home Depot and AM would reimburse me. That worked out fine and the good news is that the replacement drain is all metal. Apparently they cheap out on the HD model so it can be sold for less. My plumbers told me this is common when you buy at HD. Who knew!

The quality of this item was beyond my expectations. But, after buying your faucet, we found that we didn't need an extra metal drain, as the faucet came with one already. It was cheerfully refunded by your customer service. I will recommend your products to my family and friends.

The drain was well made by American Standard. Would definitely buy this again. It’s made of metal. I bought a plastic drain made by another company and it broke soon after it was installed. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra on metal.
