Asked by: Kate
Yes, you can tile around the tub. We installed this tub and put in porcelain tile on the walls surrounding it without issues.

Is this tub a steel tub
Asked by: shirley
No, it’s acrylic, very strong and sturdy, better than steel as it won’t chip. Bought it about 1 -1/2 year ago. Love this, looking forward to get another one for my Master bathroom

Where my current tub sits from drywall to drywall the length measures 59 1/4. Will this tub fit or do I need a different one?
Asked by: Jlocke
The tub is 60 inches, so you will have to shave some off the studs on either side to make it fit.

I'm going to do tile instead of the surround. I notice in the instructions that the wallboard or cement board covers the tile flange slightly but I see comments below that say only go down to the top of the tile flange. Which would be correct? Thanks,
Asked by: aj
I tiled my walls and ran a wallboard suitable for wet areas down over the flange to prevent any moisture from getting behind the flange. I left about a 1/4 in gap to the tub surface and I notched out the back of the wallboard to keep it flat against the studs where it overlapped my screw heads. Then, I siliconed around under the wallboard in the 1/4in gap. Hope this helps answer some questions.

I like the design and all. BUT I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. AFTER installed by contractor at substantial cost, a dark ring is visible for the bottom 4”. It looks like a dirt ring. This is very sad because the tub I replaced was old and had an unremovable dirt ring. Now I have a brand new tub with $1500 worth of parts and contractor labor that also has a dirt ring. The contractor said it is the design. Under the tub apparently the shape of the tub and the curve underneath stop light from flowing to it ? Not sure I got that right. I asked him if the mortar color was causing this. He said no and I believe him because the mortar does not go up the sides. I went back to Lowes to look at the display model. Upon closer examination of the new tub there, with a bright light, yes I can see it. I cannot express my disappointment enough. To replace this would cost me $1500 not to mention 2- 3 more days on inconvenience. How could you sell such a product?

This was my backup tub, which I purchased because the original tub I ordered was delayed in shipping. I was hesitant about the width because I thought it would be too cramped in my small bathroom. However, the tub I purchased (60 x 30) fit perfectly in the area and due to the placement of the toilet, the tub did not take up a lot of extra floor space or make the area feel cramped. When I saw the tub in store, the sleek look and visually larger size sold me! The difference between the regular width deeb tub and this tub seemed stark too me, the other tubs seemed too narrow. The only concern I have with the tub is that I feel that the acrylic stains easily. I had some blue dye on my arms from my new jeans and after soaking in the tub, realized that the side of the tub was stained. I instantly washed it off, then used spicnspan and a very light blue stain is still present. I know, I know, no dye, but it is a bathtub! I'm not sure if I will like having to take a washoff before I get in the tub to make sure I do not stain it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the price! I was hesitant on purchasing this tub for only $250. For some odd reason I would've felt better if the tub was in the $400 range. However, after purchasing, this has got to be the best deal in town. I read in one review, the reviewer claimed the material was only 1/16 " thick. Not true at all. I'm 61 yrs old, my wife and I installed this tub on a second floor. Keep in mind, you can't toss around the merchandise and expect it not to break. We did set the tub per manufacturers instructions, in a bed of mortar (2-60lb bags). This was after we tried a dry fit of the tub. Very pleased with the tub. We clean it with dish washing soap (no cleaners are recommended), and it cleans up spotless. The center line from toilet to tub did not change enough to make a difference in our bathroom. But, l guess it could be a problem if you are pressed for room. It is very comfy. The only thing I don't like about it is, once I get in it, I don't want to get out!! Keep in mind, in any remodeling involving a tub, you probably will have to re-rough the plumbing since something will change from what it used to be.

When I reviewed this tub and I read the review about the tub being warped I simply assumed it was an incorrect install since there were so many reviews of folks appreciating this tub. The tub is indeed beautiful. Unfortunately, I also get water pooling around the rim of my brand new tub. I saw the install and saw it being leveled to specs. This is definitely a casting or design flaw that is not acceptable. I am a single mom in a condo with only one bathroom for both myself and my 9 year-old daughter. The reno on this bathroom was hard on us and I was so looking forward to completion and then BAM! The same problem with pooling water which then pours over onto the floor. What a nightmare!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, tricky install The American Standard tub is very pretty white with the great elegant curved apron, which will match my curved white vanity top. This tub is packaged nicely, very secure. I am very happy with the tub, cant wait to finish the renovation to use it. BUT, following the online blueprints provided by American Standard I roughed in my bath alcove and plumbing while I awaited the shipping to my store. My alcove was 60.25" which housed our previous 60" tub and is the standard size I believe. The American Standard measured out to be 60.25", making for a VERY snug fit which lead me to take a belt sander to my studs to clear up some wiggle room. Follow the instructions and use thinset mortar underneath the bottom. As a tip, keep the mortar modeling clay consistency so it doesn't settle on its own. Also, I bent the oversized washers I had so they would bend around the contour of the lip and tighten both to the tub lip and wall.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cracked during install We installed per the instructions with a stringer board and mortar bed, but the back corner cracked while we were tiling the surround. We struggled with the drain as well and ended up having to go back and get a slightly different design to allow some tweaking. Love the looks and the idea of extra room, but the quality and structural integrity of the tub itself is questionable. We are on a tight deadline and the store had limited left hand drain options, so we went with a different design brand, but install went much easier. Very disappointing and an expensive lesson.

I paid a professional contractor to install the tub and had it tiled. It looked amazing when it was done! I was sooo happy. Unfortunately, it developed a crack a couple days after I first used it. It has a limited warranty. Of course, it does not include the amount of money it would cost for labor and new tile to replace it. The cost to take it out and put in a new one would exceed the cost of the tub. After spending $6000+ to remodel my whole bathroom around this piece of crap, I am going to have to live with it. I am going to try to have it touched up and hope it doesn't get any worse. I can't recommend this tub.

I don’t have a lot of space in my bathroom, so I was a bit worried that the curved lines would encroach on other fixtures. However, despite the fact I gained an extra 2-3 inches on either side of me while in the tub (such luxury!), It only pops out an extra inch. It’s so comfortable to lay in, the sides slope gently so you can lean back comfortably. As mentioned above, the tubs width is extended my about ½ a rulers worth and is also a bit deeper than my old standard tub. Also, It feels like good quality fiber glass that’ll stand the test of time (a lot easier to get into my second floor unit), and was very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this piece, It’s perfect! 10/10 would buy again for every house I’ll ever own forever.
