I think it can used with any shower wall unit, but I bought with Kohler shower wall unit.
It should be solid under foot. Mine has no movement in it. When installed it needs to be bedded in mortar mix or plaster of paris. Once installed it should be left over night for the base to set up in the base material before stepping in it. . One customer suggested it took 2 80 pound bag of mortar mix-- my installation used about 1 2/3's bags. Installing shower base with no bedding material voids American Standards warranty.
It is not good.
Hello, Thank you for reaching out to the American Standard Consumer Connection Team. You would use a standard shower drain, but the hole in the base is approximately 3-3/16". If there is anything we can assist you in the future, please feel free to contact us at 1-855-815-0004 Monday – Friday, 8AM – 7PM EST or Saturday 10AM – 4PM and an American Standard Consumer Connection Advisor will be happy to assist you.
Hello I just did an installation of the passage shower pan and the shower sliding door as well. And I had the same issue. After the very first shower, yes Water was retained in all 4 corners.
You should not have any problems using this as a base and tiling over. Yes, it is designed to use their wall system and shower doors for the best fit and finish. I would recommend that you go to your local Home Depot and look at the display (it is in my local stores, probably yours too) so that you feel comfortable using this product with the combination of other materials and installation process you are doing to insure you are waterproofing effectively. You can discuss the scope of your project with one of the Home Depot Reps for ideas and recommendations to insure your project is successful. One other concern that you may consider is the low threshold. Personally (IMO), I think that you would want to use the door rather than a shower curtain to insure that water does not get outside the pan and onto the bathroom floor as it could/will cause moisture related issues later on.
Measure twice, cut once. You will probably have to replumb the drain location as your easiest fix... if you are on a slab, or otherwise cannot re plumb the drain you can do your own shower pan. Depending on your skill levels, you may find the Kerdi floor pan system (or similar product, and tile the pan) May be another option for you.
Mortar is required to support the base. The warranty will not cover any issues with the base if it is not installed correctly.
Arobb, Thanks for the question on the Passage Shower base, please contact us directly as I do not see any information on anything regarding the shims you are discussing. Your American Standard Consumer Connection Team.
JOHN, We recommend drain number 751819-XXX. The XXX's stand for the color code you would want. Sicnerely, your American Standard Consumer Connection Team
