Is this tub deeper than a standard tub?  I am looking for something for teenage girls so they can take a bath. The deeper the better.

Asked by Kris04 November 18, 2020
1
Answer

Kris04, Please see the attached spec sheet. It is a basic standard tub. https://www.americanstandard-us.com/-/media/sites/asus/files/product-specs/bathtubs/2020/ich-tub/spec-2390202ich-2391-princeton.pdf?la=en Sincerely, your American Standard Consumer Connection Team

What are the specifications for the bath spout size (5" or 7")?

Asked by mombomom November 4, 2020
1
Answer

mombomom, From the finished wall to the drain is 7 3/4" so I would recommend the 7" spout. Sincerely, your American Standard Consumer Connection Team

Do you have to use roofing nails to attach the flange to wood studs? Can you use screws and fender washers instead, or is that only for steel stud installations? If so, why?

Asked by jwalk October 2, 2020
1
Answer

jwalk, Good Morning! This is what we recommend. To secure the tub to wood studs, use sheet rock screws with washers immediately above the flange of the tub. To secure the tub to steel studs, use drywall screws and flat washers. Sincerely, your American Standard Consumer Connection Team

Why is this Alcove tub listed as a Drop in the Home Depot site?

Asked by Doug September 9, 2020
1
Answer

Hello, Thank you for reaching out to the American Standard Consumer Connection Team. The American Standard Princeton tub is an alcove tub. If there is anything we can assist you in the future, please feel free to contact us at 1-855-815-0004 Monday – Friday, 8AM – 7PM EST or Saturday 10AM – 4PM and an American Standard Consumer Connection Advisor will be happy to assist you.

My alcove is 63 5/8 inches so I need to fill it in.  I want to make a ledge at the back of the tub which would be somewhat level with the tub.  Could I cut off the vertical part of the flange?

Asked by Gigi58 August 4, 2020
1
Answer

Gigi, Thanks for the question on the American Standard tub. You cannot remove the tiling flange on tubs, it is an integral part of the tub and could not be removed. Your American Standard Consumer Connection Team.

Very Good tub for small spaces
Customer review from americanstandard-us.com logo
I purchased this tub one year ago for a bathroom update. It fit the (small) space perfectly and went in with little trouble. I've had no problem with "chipping" the finish. My only comment is that I think the "grit" on the tub floor should be grittier. It's not slick, but it's not much of a tread. Also, water could drain faster, but that's not a problem. Perfect tub for low threshold and small- to medium-sized people. I didn't purchase it because of the cost, but low cost is a real bonus.

Too small
Customer review from americanstandard-us.com logo
Sides are not high enough and the tub not wide enough to make it a good soaker, my mistake. Also, the hand held shower hit the inside of the tub (as it is want to do) and chipped the porcelain.

OK, it looks good, super easy to clean however compared to cast iron... not the best option. So far had it for 8 months and it makes a lot of crackling noises ( with any movements ). No cracks or scratches. Now I need to just leave with it, very disappointing.

Ara,
It is normal for there to be a small amount of cracking but if it a lot then I would check to make sure the stringer is set as required.

Awesome bathtub
Customer review from homedepot.ca logo
We are very satisfied with the tub, easy installation, the hight of the tube is awesome. Great tub for elderly folks, the adhesive bottom really works, don’t need a anti slip mat.

Terrible tub
Customer review from americanstandard-us.com logo
Im 5’ tall. Its too shallow. Its very deceiving, it looks deep but its not. In fact when you step out of the tub, use caution because the inside of the tub is at higher level than floor level. I almost fell getting out. I need to put a note so my guests will use caution when stepping out. My contractor bought another american standard, and it still is too shallow. The slip proof isnt that great either

Dear Laura, Thank you for taking your time to write about the issues with your American Standard product. Quality and customer satisfaction are always a priority. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced with your new American Standard Americast bathtub. Rust is common on newer installations and is a result of construction debris on the surface of the enamel (not bedded within) which has begun to rust. American Standard recommends the customer to use Zud and a short bristle nylon brush to remove the rusting. This is shown in our cleaning instructions as well.
