Questions & Answers

can this product be installed without the deck plate?

bath faucet sku 327448
Asked by: jeff
Yes. The escutcheon (deck plate) is used only as a watertight cover for the left and right holes if your sink has them.

Can this faucet be used in a bath tub?

Asked by: Suz
My 20 year old version has a VERY slow flow rate, so for that reason alone I'd advise against it. It has a longer than average 5" reach for a sink faucet, but not as long as I'd want for a tub.

What is the true Flow Rate

The detailed spec says this faucet is 1.5gpm but the stamped label on the sprayer head in the faucet picture clearly says 2gpm. Why is there this discrepancy?
Asked by: Dan
The faucet is 2.0 GPM.

I am building a new counter and need to know how far off the wall to drill the hole.

Asked by: CharlieUSC
The spec sheet is missing that dimension.  It shows 1" to the back of the pop-up, but not the hole I need to drill in the counter.  What is that dimension from the back wall to the center of the hole?

Seva Single Hole Single Handle Low-Arc Bathroom Faucet in Polished Chrome with Speed Connect Drain is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8.

Right from the start the valve has operated fine with no leakage, but the handle requires quite a bit of effort to operate. Mine is smooth, but I wish it was almost effortless like so many of today's faucets. I don't know if Am. Std. has improved that aspect of the Seva by now. Also, after about 10 years, the chrome finish had deteriorated a little in a couple areas on the top of the handle (see photo), showing the brass beneath. It never got worse, and the rest of the chrome still shines like new, though. The model I bought has a combination chrome and polished brass finish. The polished brass portions haven't fared nearly as well as the chrome, but I don't think that matters to today's buyers as that combination doesn't appear to be offered any more. It was popular in the 90s, I guess. The chrome and polished brass hardware I got to coordinate with it has the very same problem - the polished brass has tarnished and spotted badly. I'll never do polished brass again, though I must admit that the Delta polished brass faucet in our half bath still glistens like new after at least 10 - 12 years! The flow is very soft and doesn't splatter due to its fine aerator, but it is a water-saving model and I do wish it had a higher, stronger flow. I'm not on city water, so I don't worry about water bills like many others. The faucet is quite heavy - a result of its brass construction. So, it feels solid, and 20 years of maintenance-free operation proves it. I do recommend this faucet, but only if more recent buyers can attest to much easier valve movement than my old '97 version. By the way, I'm re-doing the bath and will be installing either a Grohe Eurosmart or a Delta Classic single hole, single handle faucet and an Ariel Platinum Anna one-piece toilet. So, I'll be retiring the American Standard faucet and my 1963 vintage American Standard pink toilet and matching tub - finally! Time for a new enameled steel white tub and granite-topped vanity to finish the new look.

Love the basic product and have two of them installed in my home in Connecticut. Naturally I ordered two of them for the remodel I am doing in a condo in Colorado. Unfortunately, the knob that operates the drain interferes with the back splash on the new vanity tops. As a result I am returning this model of the product and am ordering the model without the drain control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellant Replacement Faucet Choice This faucet was easy to install and the quick attach drain was awesome. The base plate covered the worn areas from the old faucet. This was a great early Father's Day present for my farmer husband who uses this sink many times a day! He is trained to wipe the water splashes off of the faucet after use to prevent water spotting! This product comes highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finest Lav faucet on the market 35 years ago, I installed one of these American Standard SEVA faucets in our master bathroom, and it is still functioning like new and has never required attention. When our guest bathroom's faucet failed, I wanted to replace it with a SEVA faucet, but they are relatively hard to find. To my surprise, I found one on Home Depot's web site while looking for something else, so I ordered it immediately. It was delivered very quickly and in fine shape, and I was delighted to discover that it has been redesigned to make installation a snap, even though the older one I had previously installed in the other bathroom was not that difficult to put in. The new faucet has flexible water connections factory installed, and the pop-up drain is also connected with a flexible linkage that simply screws into the drain under the sink. If the new faucet duplicates the 35 years of attention-free service that my original SEVA provides, I won't be around to see it happen. I would recommend this faucet and Home Depot to anyone.
