Do the paint still burn off on frist time using it

Asked by: Ed
The paint DID NOT burn off when I first used it and I had a good size fire in it too. Make sure you use the tray on the bottom and you stay within that tray area and you should have no problems.

What happens if the handle breaks into pieces on the first use?
Asked by: l1960
I've had two of these grills. Handle is very brittle and broke first use on both grills. Duct Tape has lasted for over a year and just as sturdy (use plenty of tape and tape the entire handle, not just where the break it).

Americana Walk-A-Bout Portable Charcoal Grill, Red is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 440.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Great Griller I purchase this grill last Augest of 2009, I've enjoyed grilling majority of my life, my father was a great griller. I purchased this particular grill because of its convenient roll away additive that it has. That following Sunday I was home alone and decided I would do a personal BBQ for myself I was really feeling that day because it was nice and breezy I set up the grill, got it started grill for about two hours and at the same time I found the time to rack leaves. The aroma from the grill lit the whole corner where I live. My meat evenly cook without a constant watch. Afterward I clean the grill put it indoor and two days later my home was broken into and with all they stole all i was concern about was my first grill that i ever purchase, sad to say it was gone as well. True story, everyone say your TV's and other personal item are gone and all u are worried about is your grill. The answer was yes because it took me back to that sunny Sunday when i enjoyed my grill day

Used product on 9/1/19 and am very pleased with it. After reading some of the reviews here I was a little hesitant at first but what the hay....only 55 bucks. Read the instructions! After setting up remove the chrome grill from product and set aside. Put tray on bottom inside of grill, load up with charcoal. I used briquets(22-25) which I found out later was too many. Next time I will use 15. Did not have charcoal lighter so I used some newspaper and scrap 1/2x6 pine boards split into kindling. Built a small pyramid on top of briquets about 3 layers high. Set newspaper on fire in several spots and burn baby burn! After approx. 15 min. briquets were burning nicely. Replace grill be careful of high heat, use gloves. I put on the chrome grill 12 large hamburgers and 6 hot dogs. Plenty of room! I did not burn any paint on the product and at the end of grilling put 8 briquets in water to extinguish them. Only burned 1/4 of the briquet so I will used them next time I grill after they are thoroughly dry. This is a great grill, very portable and folds up nicely. Does not take up much room in the back of my SUV or on my back patio(unlike my behemoth propane grill).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No assembly, works well, cheap. Bought this mostly because it was already assembled and under $40. I love it. Pre-soaked charcoal works best with a few pieces of paper tucked into strategic spots. I have no issues getting the grill hot enough to cook with. You need to mound the charcoal and then spread it out (like the charcoal instructions say). I cooked with it all winter (our very warm winter this year 2015-16 in the Northeast) at least once a week. The paint did peel off the outside after first use, but doesn't affect function. Vents are good. Adjustable vent on top of the lid and fixed holes in bottom and sides. Removable coal tray holds most of the waste - just remove and dump. Will need to remove extra ash (turn over and dump out - a little unwieldy) every 5th use or so as it will block air vent holes if you aren't careful. Coating the grate with corn oil prior to cooking keeps it clean and your food from sticking. Will buy again - but looked and the price went up to $50... maybe $35 was a special at my store at the time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as the prior version This was a replacement for the same grill I purchased 5+ years ago, in which the bottom had rusted out. I didn't realize this new model had some cost-cutting modifications, which make it less useful. Most importantly, there are changes to the grill surface. No more handles, so adjusting the grill once it's gotten hot over the coals is a challenge. Also, the spacing has been increased across the grill, probably to save 1 or 2 pieces of metal, with the result that it's much easier for things to fall in - I already lost a hamburger to the coals. The price is the same as 5+ years, but I think the manufacturer sacrificed function to achieve that. I still recommend the grill, as long as you know what you're getting. When this one goes, I will not replace it with the same model.

I still have the same one I purchased at Home Depot 12 years ago and it would probably would last a few more years. The paint on the original one did bubble off after a few years but I wire brushed it and used Rust-Oleum High Heat Flat Black Spray Paint. I use it all year long and when not in use during the winter I cover it up with a cover made for the grill. Well worth the money and 100% better than the Char-Broil gas grill I owned which I gave to charity.

Quick to assemble, light and easy to store, good heating/cooking especially with Kingsford match light coals. We like it because it stands seperate so does not tie up table room. Easy cleanup. Wheels are a liitle flimsey and could be a little more stout so will see how it performs in long run. Overall very good so far.

This one has no handles on the grate and no back vent cover to control the heat. Poor quality now very unhappy with it after 1 use it is not what it use to be so Home Depot can have it back. I will pay a little more and get a Weber.....piece of ugh!
