Q:If I snap another piece to the end of this to extend it, will they leak at the snap together connection ?

      Answer This Question

A:  Mine did not leak, I made sure that the connection were completely connected as well as connected the 2nd coo e toon to the outside of the fist connection so it wouldn’t leak.

      by|Jan 3, 2023

A:  If there is downward slope at the connection point, it should not leak. If it is lay flat on the ground and had debris trapped in it then it might. These flex extenderes are also not very UV friendly. Mine snapped in half after a year when I tried to reshape it.

Q:I bought this extension about six months ago. While investigating the reason for water in my office I discovered the bend in this product had separated, allowing the runoff from my roof to enter my office. Why did this get brittle and separate?

A:  I am not sure why it would separate. We have not had this complaint that i know of.

A:  Amerimax claims they weren?t aware of this problem yet if you read the comments you can see that it is a well-known issue to a few people here and probably MANY MORE who haven?t written here.

Q:These crumble and break in a year or less due to UV rays I presume. I have a dozen of them on rain barrels and keep having to replace them each year. Is there any warranty or guarantee?

            Seams splitting after 6 months
Bought these 6 months ago. Hooked a couple together and installed at the gutter downspout. Both are now splitting/cracking at multiple places along the molding seam. Would not recommend this product.

              Very Cheap Product
These extensions are very cheaply made. I've bought about 12 of them, and had to throw 5 away. They crack or break in the thinnest part of the tube. I just noticed that I have another one in use that has split in 2 different places. Do not buy these unless you want to keep replacing them.

                Ok
These things are ok. But they don’t last to long in my opinion. I probably should bring them in for these hot summers here in Texas. But with Texas weather it can change in a instant. One minute sunny and hot, the next monsoon or blizzard. So I think it’s better just to leave them. The last ones lasted me a year a half so not to bad ya know.

                flimsy, weak plastic
This was my second try with this extension. First one cracked within a week. This one cracked upon install. These may work over grass, but laying them over concrete does not. The edges are so weak and break so easily. I'll be throwing this in the trash and trying a different brand.

I use this to channel rain water from the gutters to a rain barrel. I have three 55 gallon barrels. This flexible tube handles a large volume of water and bends easily to reach the barrel.
                  Good addition for rain barrels.

                  pretty bad quality
Great idea, but the fitting is very loose on a standard downspout, since it's made to fit the larger ones as well, so it really only works if the inlet is vertical. Something to keep in mind. Further, it had split on a seam either before I purchased it or within thirty minutes of purchasing it, because I brought it home and set it up all while it was raining, and it was leaking as soon as I had set it up. I will be returning this item to the store and considering alternatives.

                    Developed cracks after 15 months
It is not an expensive piece, but it developed cracks on the side that was exposed to the -canadian- sun after 15 months. When you try to move it it just breaks off. For the effort of getting a new one and installing it, you're probably better off with a better quality product.

It’s a piece of flexible plastic. What can really go...
It’s a piece of flexible plastic. What can really go wrong? I guess I could go measure gallons discharged per minute and see if it meets my standards. Price seemed ok. Liked the color (breathtaking white!). Gave it 5 twinkles because I got a bonus little bicep workout flexing/extending the piece!! P.S. No basement in my new crib so I was able to set it up close to the foundation.

                      Fixed Problem with LeafGuard Downspout
Our LeafGuard downspout from the second story was not centered over the slotted piece in the first floor gutter so water was overflowing top of gutter onto kitchen window. LeafGuard would not come out to address the problem to I purchased this to redirect the water flow to the center of the slotted piece. Worked great.
