This is a great little trowel. It's well made, from steel and wood. What I like most about it is that the handle is both fitted to the spade itself, and it's riveted in place instead of a simple tack weld. I've had welded trowels before and they almost always break because the welds are too small. This won't happen here since there are two rivets holding the handle to the spade itself. All the metal parts are powder coated too so they won't rust. It's an excellent little tool.

I have bought many of these types of items over the years. Some are made so cheaply, that when I try to dig into my garden beds (sometimes hard as cement) they bend or break. This implement is extremely well made of quality materials. I love the heft of this transplanter. The blade has a textured surface which aids in digging. The rivets attaching the handle are very sturdy. This one should last me for the rest of my planting days!

Nice Design!
The Hand Transplanter with Wood Handle by Ames has a nice design. It fit well in my hand while I was doing some garden work. I was planting some New Guinea Impatiens and it was super easy to push the tip deep into the soil for transplanting. The piece is made in China but it still seems to be built sturdy. I have no issues with this Hand Transplanter and would recommend.
