Have a previous painted deck that needs repainted. What do I need to do to it to prep it for painting with Ames Safe t deck?
Asked by: TS
Pressure wash it with water only. After it has dried, apply a minimum of one gallon per 100 sq. ft of Ames Blue Max and two gallons per 100 sq. ft. of Ames Safe-T-Deck.

Would this be a good product for my boat floor. It will be high traffic and it will get wet. I will rinse after each use of the boat. Do you think it will hold up?
Asked by: Jay
Yes Safe-T-Deck works great in marine applications. Depending upon the substrate you may need a primer such as Super Primer or Blue Max.

Can this product be applied on old decking treated with waterproofing stain?
Asked by: RJ
Proper adhesion depends on a couple of factors RJ. If the deck coating was a water based product then adhesion shouldn't be a problem. However if the previous coating was a solvent based product then the application may require a coat of Super Primer prior to Safe-T-Deck. The only way to know for sure is to test adhesion in an inconspicuous spot on the deck to determine if it meets your requirements.

How many gallons do I need to cover 194 square feet?
Asked by: dabloomis
Hi dabloomis, thanks for your inquiry. Our recommended application rate for Safe-T-Deck is one gallon per 100 sq ft per coat. We recommend a minimum of two coats so that would require a little less than four gallons. Your best value would be a five gallon bucket.
