54 in. Wood Handle Action Scuffle Hoe

Weeded over an acre of landscaped property with numerous flower beds and a landscape island in the yard in less than a day. Without this tool, the weeds and grass were getting out of control, even with landscaping cloth in place. With this tool, all looks as it should.

Used it for de-weeding and it worked really good.

I live near Houston, Texas. This tool does not work for the average “weed the flower bed” task unless you 1)have loose or sandy soild 2)have strong arms 3)have no mulch or pebbles in your soil. I bought this to help weed my flower beds after a cold winter that has only allowed weeds to flourish. This tool helped me clear little to nothing. The “blade” is not really a blade…it is not sharp and will not be able to cut into soil that has been settling for several months (please see photo of blade of took after using it once). I am an average sized female and I stay very active. After working with this tool for only about 20 minutes and giving up, I woke the next morning with a pulled tendon around my elbow joint from trying to get this gadget to work. Also, it would work terrible if I tried it in our natural clay soil. This tool is probably good for a landscaping crew, but not for a home gardener-at least not in my experience.

The wood handle is defective where the bolts are used to attach the metal hoe. I have used it and the handle has held up so far, but it is definitely a weak point. .

For an aging 72 year old who spent his gardening life with the conventional chopping hoe, this was a revelation.....Its beyond great, and incredibly easy to use...We still maintain a garden that is a little over an acre...I set it up so I can use my old troy tiller to do most of the rows, but I would still spend the better part of the day finishing up........This miracle hoe cuts that time in half.....Never go into your garden without one....Buy it, I guarantee you will wonder where the heck have I been..... I buying another one for the wife....Aren't I a good husband

I had an old, old one and it finally broke. This implement is the perfect tool to use to weed flower gardens. It works like a charm. Plus, the handle is easy on the hands as it is cushioned a bit. I promise, you will wonder how you lived without it after you see how wonderful it is!

My yard is bare sand with a few trees and ornamentals. After being away for 2 months, I had a yard of weeds/grass. Pulling it by hand takes forever and killing it with poison just leaves dead growth that still needs to be removed. A friend found a video of an 'action hoe' and sent it to me. It looked promising so I searched local home improvement stores to see if they carried it. I found it at Home Depot for a good price so bought it online, picked it up in store, and put it to use a few days later. That little hoe (also called a scuffle hoe) helped me clear my yard of growth in half the time or less that it's taken me in the past to pull everything up by hand (51 yr old female). Before/after photos included. Even if the hoe had broken at the end of the project, I'd have still loved it. I bought it for less than $16 and sure couldn't pay anyone to clear my yard for that. The hoe is super easy to use. It took more effort at times to rake up the growth I'd "scuffled", because I had to roll it a few times with the rake to release the soil from the roots. I couldn't be more pleased with the hoe whether it's to clear a large area or to target individual weeds that pop up. Two green-thumbs up from this Florida gal!

It works, I used the to clear a 4 ft section x30 ft in my yard of grass so I could build a garden box, I actually made 2. It cuts thru the grass quickly.

Bought this based on glowing recommendation from Wirecutter. Turned out to be a complete waste of money as it just scrapes the surface of the soil and does not pull up weeds at their roots.
