Stripped spindle after 8 months
In the last couple of weeks I noticed the handle was sitting lower than horizontal. This was especially noticeable in the last few days. When I put more pressure on it to open the door it slipped all the way around and failed to unlock the spring stop mechanism. we could not open the door. Upon dismantling the handle unit I saw that the spindle, the square peg, was stripped in a narrow zone, and the handle refused to engage and retract the spring loaded thing that keeps the door shut. Over the past eight months weve had no guests. we have no kids and don’t use the door all that often. We have not put weight in the handle or hung anything on it, or put any undue stress on it other than what is required to open the door. Very disappointing because we bought the upgraded version of the storm door (sold seperately) but apparently everything hinges on this shoddy handle unit.

I was surprised at the high quality and hefty weight of this set. It installed perfectly in the new Anderson storm door. I also appreciated the fact that it can be keyed alike with my other locks using the Smart Key method. Hopefully the finish holds up better than my other hardware in our Oregon coast marine environment.

stomdoor lock
When I open I was ready to install it on my stone door and when I open the box parts was missing and was so disappointed I. When back to the store but I was already close so I think they have to make sure before they put it back on the shelf in order to sell another customer I got to make sure that everything is on the box it was previously. Open they give to me on the bag i never see it since i order on line

Another quality Anderson product! The first thing that I did, was zip open the box, and retrieve the instruction booklet. The instructions, and illustrations are very clear, and this new 45 minute installation makes it even easier. The one thing is to pay attention to your rough opening, as the tolerances are fairly tight. There's a table with all of the dimensions in the booklet, which vary depended upon your door size. Also, this is a 1 1/2" thick door, so you'll need one full inch of trim for the jamb on your new door. I chose 5/4" Azek, as I am never painting trim again. One other great thing about Anderson beside the quality, is parts support is always there; in that you can get parts for a 40 year old unit. The quick change glass/screen is pretty cool too, and it takes less than one minute to change from one to the other. Now I have more light in my living room, and facing South, the Sun will be nice during Winter months. This is my second Anderson full view door, the other one leads into my family room. The hardware is quality too, and hasn't pitted on my older door, due to the salt air on Cape Cod.

Andersen/Emco really has come up with a better method of installing a storm door.
I believe this is about the tenth time I have installed a full view storm door in the past 40 years. This latest install was the easiest yet. One almost needs to forget everything he thinks he knows regarding checking the opening for square and plumb. Watch the YouTube video and don’t over think it. Its very clever how the engineers have attached the frame to the door with removable clips that hold the door in the perfect operating position within the frame. This clipped frame method ensures the door will work as designed even when installed in a less that true opening. No cutting and a latch pocket that runs the full height of the frame really help make the install trouble free. It fits, seals, and operates perfectly. Glad I bought the 45 minute install door!

Frustrating Handle lol
So, for anyone this may help- we couldn’t get the handles with latch closure to work properly so after removing the factory installed mechanism to investigate we eventually got it to work by loosening the screws on the Lock Case Trim Plate- can’t be “overtightened” but really just barely flush for ‘ours’ to work properly... Good Luck ;)
