Install was challenging for us and definitely took more than 1 hour. Watching Youtube videos on how to install was helpful. The spacers provided to put on the long screws were difficult to use, kept falling off while trying to put the screws in. We ended up 3D printing our own spacers. Results were excellent. I love this screen. We installed it on a renewal by anderson patio sliding door. I wish the Anderson people would also install this. A regular screen by Renewal by Anderson priced at $700. This cost us less than $300 and I only see the screen when I'm actually using it. One of the pictures shown is of the 3D spacer we made. The ones provided are very small and come in 3 different sizes to mix and match the size needed. The other 2 pictures are of the screen engaged and the screen retracted.

Exceeded My Expectations!

My wife wanted a new patio door, primarily because she wanted one with a retractable screen. When I told her I could retrofit our existing door with an aftermarket retractable screen, she was skeptical. Now we are both believers! This screen installed relatively easily. I put it in by myself in about two hours. The instructions were clear and accurate. The screen operates fantastically! It has just enough tension to keep everything tight during operation, but not so much that it is difficult to use. It latches easily and securely. I am a product design engineer who with multiple patents on building products. I appreciate a product with good design and functionality. This product exceeded my expectations!

Nice screen door, handy retraction.

This is a well designed screen door. I love the way it retracts. It opens and closes with ease. It’s much easier than dealing with a sliding screen door that often gets bound up in the track on the outside of my sliding door unit. The door is designed to fit onto a range of sliding door widths, and it slides apart to fit the space between the fixed panel and the door jamb. The latch is far better than the screens on my other sliders. It’s part of the frame and integrated into the retractable screen housing. It latches well and opens with ease. It’s a lot better than most sliding glass door latches. Because it latches so well and it auto retracts, we use it all of the time. The retraction is slow and even; the tension is just enough to retract and open it, not enough to pull it too fast and cause damage. The directions are not great. They are detailed, and they have a lot of notes. But they were a little hard to follow. I may have been tired, or it may have been hot, or the sun may have been too bright. I’m not sure, but I had a devil of a time reading, following, and not getting distracted. The directions are all drawings, and some of them are a little hard to interpret. I’ve been using it for several months now. The only issue I have had is that someone (likely one of my kids) stepped on the bottom rail and it bent just enough to bind the door when it opened or closed. The metal did not crease, so I was able to bend it back into its original shape and it works perfectly again. I was surprised that it bent that way, but I was happy to be able to fix it.

Quick and convenient screen door.

Great product. When putting on the key is to make sure it’s square and with that being done it open and closes very easy. It also rolls it up when you close it. Which will keep it from sun damage. It was very easy to put in. The edge fits in nice with some screen doors. There is some trip to make it a better tighter fit as well, thankfully it was not needed but it was convenient that it came with it. But after have it put together. Which took not time at all, less than 45 minutes. It was tested and it open and closes smoothly.

OMG!!

Don’t buy this contraption, unless you want to spend at least 4 hours measuring and checking instruction guidelines and assembling this over thought work of art. I thought I’d put this together after work tonight, I opened the box, looked at the parts and thought “no problem “, then I started reading the instructions and decided I’ll waste part of a weekend on this project.

Looks great

I bought this LuminAire for Sliding Patio Doors 72 in. x 80 in. Universal White Aluminum Gliding Retractable Screen Door by Anderson windows and doors to install on my patio French doors. The patio doors do not have a groove on the bottom for a sliding screen door so I had to make a channel with some azak. It does look that good or work great. The Anderson system is a full frame and the screen retracts making it ideal for my case it is very well made and the frame is nice and sturdy. It is 6 foot wide and 6’8” tall which fit perfectly in the French doors. We love the low profile handle and its locking mechanism it also comes with a 5 year warranty.

Nice good quality unit.

Really nice unit, that wasn’t that difficult to install. I think it took a little over an hour. You will need to do some trim of the rubber so that it seals good. they recommend some sealant, but I didn't use any because my door sits underneath the eave, and it won't be hammered with rain. You do need to hold onto the screen when you open it. The first time my wife flipped the switch it shot open because of the strong spring it has. Our daughter has one on her front. Door and it worked really great until the dog tried to run through it.

It works, but could use some improvement.

I want to start by saying the materials of this screen door are quality and it was well packaged. That being said, installation wasn't as easy as implied by the instructions, likely because I do not have an Anderson door, but this is supposed to be universal and fit other brands. The instructions are almost over informative with the number of images and references, but if you stare at them long enough they'll make sense. I did successfully install the door after finally deciding to remove the bottom flange so I had more vertical adjustment. After that, installation was a breeze, and it seems to have no ill effects on functionality. The screen operates smoothly and it automatically latches when you close it. However, the latch on mine is defective, with one of the screws holding it on not being attached. Overall, I think if you have an Anderson brand door this is a no brainer to purchase. If you have another brand, it will probably work, but you might have to get creative.
