The plastic screw on base makes it pop out anytime I try to squeeze. Absolute piece of junk that I regret buying.

Like all caulk guns Home Depot has been selling for recent years. Prick rod is over a inch shorter then need to work on most any tube caulking. If you use a gun every day you would know that. Finally saw they finally put a curve on end of push rod. (3 years for that) Home Depot doesn’t care you’ll buy anything till you learn its crap. That’s there business plan rookies.

This caulking gun I should’ve bought years ago, but this time and this job, I was not going to try the squeeze caulk. This gun is great!

All in all, without hesitation, I would recommend this gun. It features a rotating barrel as they claim to have easier access in tight, hard to reach places. I’m no pro so I have to admit I don’t get that but I will say the barrel and tube rotate easily so it works. Another plus is a slightly longer puncture rod! It also has a trigger finger guard. Why others don’t is beyond me, unless I’m the only person that has pinched their finger squeezing the trigger. I think this is a big little distinction. My old gun is over 20 years old so if this lasts that long it will be a real winner. My only criticism is the plugger, it latches in place which is nice. But it required me to get a screwdriver to unlatch. I will be grinding down part of the rib to allow me access with my finger so no minus in my rating.

I'm intrigued at the idea of a composite caulking gun particularly after my last one did eventually start to develop rust. This has all the features you'd want; tip cutter, "seal poker needle thingy", but it's all in a very lightweight package. However don't confuse lightweight with delicate as the material seems very robust in the trigger and spine. The cradle portion does flex a bit but it's not brittle - I tried to compress it completely and it held up just fine. I'd have no hesitation tossing this around or in the bottom of a bag of tools.

Useful features and comfortable ergonomics improve on the old, tried-and-true caulk gun. I already have a caulk gun, which basically works, so why get a new one? How much better could it be? Well, it turns out that this model from Anvil is better enough to warrant considering, especially if you’re facing an aggravating task like recaulking several showers/bathtubs. While the basic functions are the same as the old, tried and true version, the Anvil offers new features and improved functionality that make it more efficient and to the extent possible, more enjoyable to use. NEW FEATURES: Unlike an older, traditional model, this one has a spout cutter integrated into the body/handle. No need for a utility knife! It also has a seal punch permanently attached to the side of the tool. This is a big help because I can never find a nail long enough to poke through the foil in a new caulk tube. Note: you will need a strong fingernail to lift the seal punch out of its “channel”, but that’s not a major drawback. IMPROVEMENTS: Older, original style caulk guns advance the push rod via friction, which also holds the caulk tube in place. A spring-loaded lever on the back releases the rod, but sometimes it jams. This newer design model has a “ratchet rod”. When rotated downward the squeeze-handle pushes the ratchet forward. Rotate it 180 degrees (see pic), and it’s free to slide back and release the caulk tube. No jamming! Finally, the composite body is lighter and the grip is a bit more comfortable than the old metal one, yet feels like it should hold up to use. Anvil 10 oz. composite drip free caulk gun After years of using metal calking guns I decided to try the HDX – Anvil composite caulking gun. It feels comfortable in my hand and because it isn’t stamped metal I didn’t notice any of the rough edges I’ve experienced with some metal ones and rust should be a thing of the past too. I liked the smooth ratcheting action while squeezing out the contents of the caulking tube and I didn’t notice any problems of flexing with the composite material. My first experience having an integrated tip cutter and it worked great. No more looking for a razor knife and a long nail to cut off the calk tube tip and puncture the membrane. This comes with both the cutter and piercing tool and both worked great.

I have to admit, caulking is not one of my favorite things. I always wind up with the stuff all over me, my caulking gun and the floor. Anything that helps to make this job easier, I’ll jump right on it. I think I have found a great tool in the Anvil 10 oz. composite drip-free caulk gun. Right out of the package, the Anvil gun is about half the weight of my old, all-metal gun. This will save hand fatigue when doing a long project. The “dripless” feature is accomplished by a spring that causes the plunger to retract about 1/8 inch when you release the handle. The gun also features a rod for poking through the caulk seal, a cutter to snip off the tip of a caulk tube and a ladder hook on the end of the plunger rod. It seems they thought of everything. But will it work? The test to see if the dripless feature works was 100% effective. I squeezed an amount of caulk from the gun using a good deal of pressure. When I released the handle the tip did not drip one little bit. I was impressed. I am getting ready to lay some Lifeproof Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring with new baseboards and this caulking gun will make the caulking job more successful. You can’t beat the features of this caulking gun at this price.
