Product Overview

Apollo ExpansionPEX is cross-linked polyethylene tubing designed for use within potable water piping systems. Produced using a Peroxide method, Apollo ExpansionPEX is PEX-A pipe. Having been in use for over 50 years PEX-A pipe has the highest rate of cross-linking of any PEX pipe. Apollo ExpansionPEX is the most flexible PEX pipe available. Apollo ExpansionPEX Pipe provides superior durability, corrosion resistance and flexibility for the most demanding environments. Apollo ExpansionPEX is available with red, white and blue print lines for the simple identification of cold water, hot water and main water lines. The Apollo ExpansionPEX system is a comprehensive cold expansion piping system comprised of brass fittings, poly alloy fittings, manifolds, valves, fasteners, tools and tubing designed for implementation in water delivery systems, simple or complex.
  • Pipe is opaque in color with a blue print line for easy identification of cold-water distribution lines within a piping system
  • Apollo ExpansionPEX pipe is compatible with both expansion and crimp, clamp or sleeve methods of joining
  • Compatible with Tectite by Apollo push-to-connect fittings
  • Meets or exceeds the following standards: ASTM F876, F877, F1807, F1960, F2023, F2080 and F2159
  • Heat-reparable if kinked during installation thus further eliminating additional repair connections
  • Shape memory inherent in PEX-A tubing results in the shrinking of expanded pipe to normal size, creating strong, durable and reliable ASTM F1960 fitting connections
  • Maximum cross-linking increases flexibility and resistance to cracking
  • Available in a variety of lengths including 100 ft. and 300 ft. coils
  • cNSFus-pw
  • CSA B137.8

Can this pipe be connected with crimp rings or does this pipe require the expansion connection?

Asked by Dave January 8, 2020

Answer

Apollo PEX-A pipe is dual rated for use with copper crimp rings/stainless steel pinch clamps, or expansion sleeves. The pipe that you are referring to may be used with either.

Can you use this for compressed air?

Asked by Don June 6, 2019
1
Answer

No, this PEX pipe is designed and certified exclusively for use in water applications. We cannot recommend the use of PEX for compressed air, and our manufacturer warranty does not apply in that case.

Can this be used with PEX compression fittings, or must expansion fittings be used?

Asked by pscarbor May 24, 2019

Answer

This pipe carries all of the certifications for both PEX-A and PEX-B pipe so you may use PEX-specific compression fittings with this tubing,

Answer

All of the pipe in this system is exactly the same other than the color used to print our line of text along the pipe. You may use them interchangeably--we just have different colors so that you may easily identify hot water and cold water lines visually.

can this product be buried below ground

Asked by howard March 9, 2018
1
Answer

Yes, Apollo Expansion PEX tubing is approved for direct burial outdoors. Apollo ExpansionPEX, with it's superior expansion properties, resists freezing more effectively than rigid pipe, but it can still burst if the water freezes. It is neccssary to bury the tubing below the frost line. Although an unbroken line of Apollo ExpansionPEX would be ideal, connecting two pieces of pipe is possible using dezincification-resistant brass PEX fittings or plastic PEX fittings in regions where aggressive water or soil are present.

These are not 100 foot rolls. They are about 65 ft max. I have 2 - 75 foot trenches that came up short because of this and I had to buy extra and also put in joints I didn't want to have. So, I feel this is pretty significant issue. Yes, I got all the coil out. Yes, it was laying flat. These are no where near 100 feet long. The quality of the pipe does appear to be good.

It’s a PEX pipe.. they are all basically the same.. keep them out of the sun and they can have a longer life than copper at a much lower cost. Very easy to use with a small investment in some quality tools. One negative is that it is a little unnerving to be able to see through your water pipes.
