Q:Why did you switch to these blue connectors from the old gray ones? the old ones worked flawlessly and these leak half the time even with three compression bands.

Probably will not work for sprinkler line repair.
This item may not work if you needed to remove a section of the polypropylene pipe due to damage. If trying to bridge the missing piece of pipe you may not be able to cover the two raised barbs on each side. Those need to be covered in order to create the necessary seal otherwise the connection will leak regardless of how tight you clamp it. I rated it poor for and do not recommend for this type of application. There are other choices available for a simpler repair.

It works -- doesn't leak
I bought this 1 month ago to repair a leak (small hole) in my sprinkler system's 1 inch poly pipe. I was a little hesitant doing so at first, given many saying it leaks. However, I decided to give it a try and have had no issues. It's been in place for 1 month now and so far so good -- there are absolutely no leaks. I will say the "double helix" design and the big handle in the middle don't do anything for its functionality, but as long as it works all's well. See picture of the repair.

These work great for connecting my poly pipe sections together. They screw into the end and can be held watertight with a hose clamp. I’m not running that much pressure (just a small sump pump) but the coupling works well to hold the sections of pipe together.

About 1/2 the ones I installed leaked
Spent hours making sure I had everything I needed to run water brought the woods to a food plot. I get up in the mountains and get a variety of these different fittings installed and clamped. Turn on the water and about half of them leaked. DONT waste your time or money with any of these type of fittings. Frustrating. Tried clamping right at edge, then back a little over the barbs, hearing the pipe more or less, nothing prevented the leaks...

I bought these to connect sections of 1 1/4" black polyethylene pipe (poly pipe). They are very sturdy and fit snug in the pipe. You can't use any type of glue to connect poly pipe to ABS or other piping. So these are a necessary component. They are a nice length and seem rigid and well made.

The "twist" lines should go in opposite directions like a turnbuckle. So you could tighten up both hoses at the same time. Instead, if the hoses are attached to anything at the other end, you have to tighten one and then force the other hose end onto it the same way you'd do on any other "barb" insert. Best thing was the very cheap price. But having to order was weird. I can't believe you don't have something like this in stock. Shipping took longer than I would have thought, too . . . .
